Love to see smaller plate options on the menu. The pea risotto and octopus salad tasted very nice. We also ordered fish and chips. Service was polite and quick. The atmosphere was pleasant.

My wife and I had lunch at Fat Badger in September 2024. It's conveniently located right under the medieval arches up into old town, was very close to our hotel. We were seated upstairs in one of several quaint and cozy rooms - this place seems a labyrinth, don't know how the staff keep on top of who is where. It was really pleasant with a view of street out the window, a fireplace and lots of quirky eclectic pictures on the wall. The food was incredible. We both had a burger, can't remember which, but super meaty, super tasty. Big flavour, big belly. I felt like a fat badger after that. Service wasn't the quickest, but it was cheerful and helpful. Quality of the food was worth the wait.

Very busy pub and liked the decor of the place. Quick and efficient service and the two young girls that waited on us were very friendly.
The pork sandwiches were pretty average and shame the fat chips were the frozen variety but probably our expectations were set too high.
Not the sort of place for an evening dining experience but a great selection of drinks.?

If you're visiting Herrogate I would say this is a must see place to see and try. The Scotch Egg was great. I tried several different dishes however the ox Sheppard pie was the best. I also loved Sticky Toffee here.

Great food.
Great presentation of food.
Great service (no rushing of orders or hard sell of drinks etc).
Restaurant area has comfortable seats and tables are generously spaced out - no bumping other dining guests etc.
Came back here a year after our first time and the service and food was still great as ever - they even gave us a little anniversary offer too which was unexpected, but greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
We will visit you again when we're up this way again!!
