Fantastic shop. Stopped in for a bacon sandwich and a coffee when on a walk and owner couldn?t have been more friendly. Lovely seating area at the back. Bakery excellent and they do all sorts of different food on different nights. Well-used and a great example of what a modern village shop can offer.

It's a nice little supermarket with the basics plus great looking bread and cakes.The people are nice and friendly (the grumpy ones mentioned in other reviews no longer run it).

Very pleased with my experience in this shop. I was driving by after a look around the local castle and by chance happened to come to the shop. And to my surprise it was much more than your typical Londis. There?s a beautiful fresh bakery in the back, where I tried the most delicious brownies. As well as a bistro in the back which looked so lovely. The shop itself gives the most beautiful vibe in a picturesque town. In terms of customer experience I was very pleased with the staff, as English is not my first language, the staff were just as chatty and friendly with me and my family despite us speaking mostly french. Will most definitely come back.

We stopped for a coffee here today in the middle of a walk and took two Americanos and a cappuccino to the castle grounds. The coffees were all completely undrinkable and neither smelled or tasted like coffee. I took an untouched Americano back to shop and explained whilst I wasn't looking for a refund I wanted to say that there was a problem with them. The reaction was unbelievable. Instead of apologising or even exploring what could be the problem the first lady simply turned away and blanked me, refusing to engage in any way at all! The second lady then said I should maybe stick to Nescafe! (A Nescafe would actually have been preferable to the hot water without smell or taste I was served) This was without question the worst coffee I have ever been served and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have never given a one star review ever before..until now. If it were possible to give no stars then I would have no hesitation.I really cannot recommend anyone to share the same experience!

Had just been walking and notice the signs outside the shop fresh coffee available went inside stood near the counter which was where the coffee was dispensed there was no one behind the counter there was some one on the till near the door watching stand there for few mins eventually I asked if the were serving coffee guy said no only on a morning okay thanks for letting me wait why have still got the signs outside he grunted and I left what away to treat customers

Staff at the deli counter are very rude and stubborn. Stood at the counter while the lady proceeded to ignore me. I then took a sandwich off the counter as I was sick of being ignored. She then noticed me where she proceeded to tell me ?she would rather me not do that? how about smiling at the customer and acknowledging they are there. Poor service food was good however

Best village shop in the North!Great range of regular and home made stuff, fruit and veg fresh meat, bread and posh ready meals, booze, excellent hot and cold sandwiches and pizza in the big new kitchen plus a post office. Somehow they always have what you want!They've worked amazingly hard and done free deliveries through COVID and are a real life line for the village.
