Booked my daughter?s car in for an aircon regas. I live 50 miles away, which I told them. The booking was over a week before the appointment. I turned up at the time arranged (9:20) and left the car with them. Reinforcing the point I would be back about 11am, as I had an appointment at 11:30. They seemed fine with that, and told me it would probably take 40mins. Imagine my surprise when I arrived back at 11 to find the car in the same spot in the car park. I went in, and the manager said, ?it will be finished soon, he?s just finishing off?. That can?t be true, coz it?s in the car park! Turns out they haven?t even touched it! Worst organisation ever! HALFORDS - what a joke!

Not the best first experience of this garage. There was no one there when I arrived, it was almost an hour after my scheduled drop off time before someone opened up. Was then told they couldn't look at my car that day due to lack of staff so that was most of the morning wasted.
At my rearranged appointment time, I was told it would be about 40mins before I would hear what needed doing - it was almost 2hrs in the end. Communication wasn't great throughout, I had to explain the issue to three different people on three separate occasions.
Once work actually started, it was completed efficiently thankfully. The one saving grace for this garage was the gentleman from another centre covering on Saturday morning and when I finally collected my car on Tuesday afternoon - he was great. Not sure if I'll be visiting again unless I'm desperate.

MOT and service, pre paid.
They don?t even open on time?had to leave after waiting almost 20 minutes and they still weren?t open. Then tried to call them later on, was then waiting for 40 minutes on hold before giving up on the call.

Do not use this place for an MOT. They like to add jobs to an MOT test that doesn?t need doing. Try get you booked in quick to get the needles work done. Please be careful and question it all.

I was told a part for my car was unobtainable by them yet you can get the said part from any motor factors so not very honest I think !
Also had my car for three days and could not deal with the warranty company who guided me to them for the repair.
Sometimes would not answer the phone especially after 5pm. They close at 6pm.
When I picked the car up they were all sat around in the reception.
The fuse cover was left in the passenger footwell which I had to reinstate.
A can not recommend them at all !
But I do recommend you don't use them in my opinion from my dealing with them !

OUTSTANDING customer service:
We experienced a serious fault with our car recently and limped onto the forecourt of Halfords, Ripon Road, Harrogate and, although the team were obviously having a very busy day, Umar managed to find time to listen to our concerns and check out the problem for us; our steering system was done for and the vehicle totally unsafe to drive! Umar discussed our options with us and even attempted to locate the parts required as they did not have them on site, advising us that they would do the utmost to have it fixed before Christmas for us should we leave it with them. In the end though, we had the car recovered and taken to a mechanic in our hometown as he had the part in stock. However, we cannot thank Umar enough for his kindness, understanding, assistance and knowledge. Umar, in our opinion, went above and beyond to help us in what was a dire situation, whilst still ensuring that other planned work from customers who had booked in was carried out. Umar is a master of customer service, knowledge and efficiency. Halfords Head Office - if you are reading this - Umar is a real credit to the organisation.

Avoid at all cost. They did an MOT on Monday and my car failed. Expected as the car is 14 years old but they then quoted nearly £600 to do some of the work. Wasn't convinced the person who quoted actually knew what he was doing so I came away and immediately took it to a local garage, Coleman Tyres in Otley. They did ALL the work necessary and also an advisory from the "fix as soon as possible" section and in total it cost £225. The re MOT was booked for the following day but when I got there the man who did the tests was away, so a wasted trip. Went back today and the car passed. They were told that a main advisory had also been done but when the MOT cert was produced they had forgotten to look at what. So for the next year my certificate will be wrong. Not a big deal but just adds to the incompetence of the people employed there. I have been to halfords for years for my MOT but won't go back there.
