Good food, rather pricey but lovely place. View from one side. Friendly staff, but we had to push a bit for the dessert, as reminding two times that we were on the way for a hike. We needed to catch a train later, we had to catch a hour later train, due to the delay ??

Prettiest food I?ve ever seen, absolutely delicious, and very filling. Service matched the food, impeccable. Setting was beautiful, with views overlooking the moors, comfortable, warm fine dining. I can?t rate this restaurant highly enough. Even my fussy 9 year old wants to come back, stating the food was ?divine!? Well done Homestead Kitchen, you really add something a little special to moors national park.

Excellent food, service and overall experience. Chef prepared a special menu for dietary requirements too. Perfect.
Vegetarian options: On booking we mention dietary requirements and they got in touch to clarify and get details to prepared a special menu.

Believe me this is not what I expected to write as a review. As a local I was hoping to have found a new hidden gem. I absolutely love the care and attention that goes into beautifully created dishes in these types of restaurants and appreciate it is about the wonderful flavours rather than massive portion sizes.
But first let me praise the staff. Absolutely wonderful and very helpful but allow the diner to get on with a lovely evening without being over attentive. Perfect.
The menu sounds beautiful and is but really what is the point of looking across a lovely vegetable garden to the moors when the selection of veg is not offered to the diner.
Would have been lovely to order sides of fresh home grown veggies.
I?m afraid I sent my fish back to the kitchen as it was not cooked through. It was replaced. I was informed that that is how the chef cooks halibut. And if that was the case I would have asked for it to be cooked a little longer. My veg. Two potatoes. And a sprinkle of diced courgette.
My hubby had the pork with brassica Brassica = one tiny leaf.
Please oh please let?s have some beautiful veggies to accompany what are beautifully created dishes.
I didn?t take any photos as my mobile stays in my bag when I?m out. But the photos already on the reviews before me do not equal the portion size which we had last night. Our portions were very very small.
Sadly not somewhere we will visit again.
UPDATE
Thank you for the response and apologies for putting halibut rather than turbot.
Yes there were small amounts of veggies but please why not offer some beautiful sides of veggies to complement the beautiful dishes created.
I was aware of the small portion that I chose for a starter and that is not my complaint.

Rather prissy. All dishes batch prepared in small pots and heated/cooled to order. Underwhelmed.

What a remarkable place!
A lovely steam train ride from Pickering followed by a short hike to a lovely farmhouse.
Followed by a total surprise.
One of the best meals I have ever had.
A creative menu, stunning presentation, gentle service and truly excellent food.
A serendipitous delight

Perfect in every sense. Intimate, without feeling like you?re being watched/rushed, and totally special without being pretentious. Staff were kind and attentive, especially the lady that greeted us in their warm entrance room. Food is worth much more than they charge, and we would pay it again in a heart beat. Can?t wait to return!

Quaint and compact, this restaurant offers a simple but delicious menu. Ingredients are local and seasonal - meaning fresh and chosen for quality. Dishes are expertly prepared and taste as good as they look. Given the quality, the cost isn't out of balance at all and service was great too! A lovely mid week lunch to celebrate a special occasion - and enjoy a lovely treat. Perfect in every way - a most enjoyable dining experience.

Went here with my parents recently who live in nearby Whitby. This is some of the finest dining I have enjoyed in a long time, and I live in Los Angeles. The setting, the service and of course, the food, the food, the food? wow.I know this will become our family go-to for special meals and I will certainly demand we dine here whenever I?m visiting from the US! Bravo!

Well how could you not write a review about this place? The food is stunning, tasty and special. The atmosphere is homely, quaint and relaxing. There are only about 8 tables here, and you feel engaged and catered for at all times. The service exceptional, the two ladies were working hard but smiled throughout service.Price wise, it?s absolutely reasonable. Mains are pricey, but it reflects the quality. You can tell one of the core values of the owners is customer care, making sure the customer is completely valued. We had homemade bread with an unbelievable kipper butter, mushroom and cheese bon bon, and 4 rich and creamy truffles - all on the house! It?s so refreshing that somewhere delivers this kind of food and service, and priorities the customer - most places are all too happy add all these extras and a service charge on the bill - not homestead kitchen. ?These are truffles to say thank you for coming? - thank you for having us!Congratulations guys, this place does the north Yorkshire moors proud. We will be back.
