They pretend their smaller rooms are never available just so you would book the self catering

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Rowe House for a couple of nights, in order to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The owners of this B&B are extremely welcoming and run a very well oiled machine with thoughful touches throughout, which makes for a very comfortable stay. The room we stayed in was immaculate and the bed comfortable, with great views of the surrounding countryside. The location is great for hiking and within less than 2 mins of walking, you are directly on the three peaks loop trail and ready to go.
The owners kindly made us a superb packed lunch for our day out on the trail, which kept us energised for the challenge. They even laid on an early breakfast for us, as we were hitting the trail super early one morning. Breakfast the next day was great, with a selection of items on offer including a full yorkshire breakfast, bagels, eggs and more. We were able to customise to our liking, which was perfect. As a bonus they also had great french press (cafetière) coffee. I have travelled to a lot of places and for some reason it seems hard for hotels to provide good coffee, but that is not the case here!
We left wishing we actually had more time to spend here. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious place to stay while hiking in the Yorkshire Dales region.
Rooms: Luxuriously appointed, comfortable beds, clean, nice bathroom
Nearby activities: Hiking trails, pubs, railway station
Safety: Very safe and quiet
Walkability: Right on the three peaks trail, close to other trails, close to railway station, close to pubs and cafes in the village
Food and drinks: Great full breakfast with lots of options. Owners can make packed lunches for your hiking. Great tea and coffee.
Noteworthy details: Parking on site

I greatly enjoyed staying here for one night whilst hiking the Pennie Way. It was my most expensive stop on the trail but everything was highly quality. A beautiful room, bed and bathroom, great breakfast and the packed lunch option was very generous. I meet both hosts who were very friendly and communication was great.

We stayed at the Rowe House to complete the 3 peaks challenge, we had the Shippon and one of the rooms inside as well. Jane and Robert were informative prior to our arrival and everything at the accommodation was perfect. Very close to the train station and the start of the hike. I then injured myself on the second peak and when I got to signal and sent Robert a message to ask for number of local taxi companies he came and picked me up instead which was so lovely. Highly recommend staying here for anyone exploring the area or attempting the three peaks challenge!

An amazing stay. Perfect location to start the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed. Our hosts were so accommodating and the breakfast was to die for. I had scrambled eggs with lovely local baked bread and my husband had the full Yorkshire. We had fresh cakes every day which was a nice touch.Walkability: Very close to the start of the Y3P

Had an absolutely lovely stay here!! Jane was the loveliest host, super accommodating - even when we arrived soaked to the bone and covered in mud after a day on the Pennine Way, there were slippers and boot trays at the ready! Jane and Rob were also both super helpful with pointing out places to go/routes for our next day's walk. The place and our room were both lovely, and breakfast was amaaazing (and great value) - porridge, full english, plus pastries. This was our fave place on the Pennine Way - hopefully we'll be back at some point!!

My partner and I had the pleasure of spending four nights at The Shippon at Rowe House in December. The hosts, Jane and Robert, were very warm and welcoming. The Shippon was impeccably clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Situated amidst stunning scenery, we were treated to breathtaking views of Pen-y-Ghent, creating a tranquil and serene atmosphere. Its location makes it an ideal base for exploring Northern Yorkshire and Cumbria. The charming bedroom, nestled in the mezzanine level under the rustic eaves, added to the allure of the place. Thanks to the efficient self-contained heating system, the entire space remained cozy throughout our stay. Without hesitation, we wholeheartedly recommend The Shippon and anticipate the opportunity to return in the future.

Very friendly and helpful owners, Jane and Robert.Very well maintained site, with just one combined loo, sink and shower room - very clean and well presented. The site has a stunning view over the majestic Pen-y-ghent - wonderful! Loved the stay here.I'll be back!

We stayed in the campsite at the back in our motorhome. 1st night we were on our own, it was very peaceful with fantastic views of Pen-y-ghent and surrounding hills. Facilities were good and exceptionally clean. Had we had the weather we could have sat at side of chiminier and cooked our chops , plenty of wood supplied.Friendly and helpful owners. The dog, Mouse totally enjoyed the wild part of the Croft. Regular train service along Settle -Carlisle line 5 minutes walk from site. Will most definitely will be back.
