Not great. The menu never changes. Expensive for what is offered.

Visited here many times with my parents and both are disabled, mum is in a wheelchair and access is ground level and extremely easy to navigate.
You are instantly greeted and chaperoned to your table, on this occasion we were put on a table in the corner next to a window in the heat of 27 degrees and half way through the meal I was feeling a little uncomfortable to say the least but not wanting to moan I battled through. Maybe a little more thought and consideration from the staff would?ve been a little nicer.
Ordering food was simple and the waitress was pleasant and covered all our needs, the food arrived a lot quicker than I anticipated and was lovely. On first impressions I actually thought ?that won?t fill me? but it did. It was cooked to perfection and certainly couldn?t really ask for any more.
When leaving the staff opened and continued to hold open the doors so I could push my mother out of the restaurant in her wheelchair.
Massive thank to the staff for their hospitality and excellent customer service and delicious food

Food was top quality here. The food was amazing but I can?t quite give it five stars as a few things let it down slightly for me. What let it down was I had a 7 day stay at the hotel next door with the evening meals being provided here at the pub. Every night there was some confusion as to where they was going to sit me usually shoving me in a corner so that I was out the way to one point where they completely forgot about me and ran out of what I had ordered, after an hour of waiting they had to make me something else. One evening I was moved tables after the first course. This was a shambles but the staff overall were very nice and I think this was a mistake by senior staff. The quality of the food was top notch but portion sizes a bit small

A very nice place, good service and very nice food, situated in a lovely spot right next to the church, we really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our lunch. We have been coming to the Fat Abbott for a few years for lunch. We always enjoy a sandwich and triple cooked chips.
The only bread you can now have is ciabatta. If you only eat brown bread, you are basically out of luck. The ciabatta bread was very heavy and quite dry. The side salad garnish was also lack lustre!
On a positive, the chips were good.

We ended up at this pub only because we were staying at the Parsonage Hotel & Spa to celebrate a birthday and had no other choice. It was a fatal mistake! The birthday celebration was completely ruined! The service was terrible - first we waited 20 minutes for water, then half an hour for a dessert card, so in result we didn't want sweets anymore? and then another 20 minutes for the bill, so we paid at the bar without waiting for a waiter.
And in general the place itself is absolutely unattractive - very bright light, uncomfortable furniture, not nice design. Never again!

Lucky to be getting 1 star!
Spent 3 days at the Parsonage Hotel & Spa over the weekend. This was our second trip here (hoping it would be a lot better than the first time)
it was worse (which I have to say, didn't think was possible)
I will start with the service, not welcoming, no smiles or general manners when ordering drinks at the bar. Never felt like the customer was a priority spending a lot of time waiting at the bar for a drink and this was during the quiet times, no real manager taking ownership, just had the feel of people just having a go at running a gastro pub, not what you expect when you book a 4star hotel. (Appreciate this isn't the hotels fault however when they are pushing business their way, not great)
The food:-
I'm going to make this clear, I'm no food snob, generally eat anything.
WOW!! Night 1, ordered the lasagne! Had better microwave meals from Aldi! No layers of pasta, just 1 on the top with a bit of cheese! Underneath, just mince and garlic with the off tinned chop tomato. I sent this back, I was expecting an apology or perhaps some discount. Was offered nothing other than a slightly sarcastic response from the waiter.
Day 2, I decided I will give them the benefit of the doubt (everyone can have an off day). I ordered the chicken club sandwich, half way through eating it, I noticed the chicken was still pink (and I mean PINK) not cooked at all. I informed them of this and was offered £1.79 off my bill. That's clearly the cost of potentially giving somebody food poisening.
As part of our package with the hotel we were given a £50 entitlement to spend in there for food for 2 nights. Safe to say, we didn't spend anywhere near that, and didn't return the following night.
As mentioned above, generally eat anything but this is like a very very bad weatherspoons.
My advice, avoid and go round to the Thai restaurant round the corner, that is very good.
