Was really confused by the cafe, it was expensive but regardless of the expense it was the menu and lack of childrens options that was disapointing.. but the children's options was literally a ham or cheese sandwich.. but the ham is Gammon type ham, which the woman on the till did say its thick ham so they might not like it... so obviously had that feedback before, and out of the four children we bought ham sandwiches for all four barely touched it their sandwiches and turned their noses up to it and they left hungry, thankfully had the ice-cream which was nice, but to say it's in a location that is aimed at families the cafe is far from child friendly I was shocked if I'm honest, and there was only a small chalkboard with about six items on the menu for the entire cafe, so just found the whole set up strange, barely anything on the menu and such a lack of options for children. Think you've tried to be fancy and completely missed the market, if I returned I would bring a packed lunch we left disapointed and confused at the whole set up.

Sunday Lunch, 2nd August. Waited 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. Two drinks arrived separately in the next 10 minutes. Main, not hot, veg like a packeted supermarket salad. Received dessert menu, it was so long before anyone came to take our order. We gave up and asked for the bill. Looked to be just 3 staff, not enough especially when they were allowing walk ins.

Booked for lunch last Sunday (2nd August)Waited 20 minutes before being asked what we wanted to drink. Both drinks arrived separately within the next 10 minutes. Starter was fine, although very little choice. Main course which was luke warm arrived a while later. Accompanying veg looked like something one would buy from a supermarket in a packet only they might have chopped the whole cabbage leaves. I was more like a bad salad.
We receive a desert menu, regrettably no one came to take our order for 25 minutes. by that time we were fed up of waiting and requested the bill. I think the problem was there were not enough staff and they were taking to many walk-ins.
Also I did hear the waitress tell the next table that they had run out of beef. (what on a Sunday Lunch time) I must add that we are not novices regarding eating out, we have enjoyed meals from the best chefs in the country, including Michel Roux Jr.

FANTASTIC FOOD!!! We dropped in for brunch today as we had arrived in Stokesley early for an event and had an hour to kill. The food, service and ambience was fantastic. There were tables outside but it was threatening rain so we chose inside (rightly, as it promptly tipped it down). It?s quite compact downstairs but much more room upstairs. We had ?shrooms on toast with poached eggs and a chicken, chorizo and haloumi salad and shared them between two of us. Both dishes were wonderful and tasty. Restaurant quality, absolutely not just your average cafe. Each dish could feed one person in full, no half portions for brunch here. £46 inc drinks & tip, good value. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you!

We came for Sunday Lunch on my wife?s birthday. We?ve been looking for somewhere new after our favourite closed down a few months ago, and we?ve found it in the Truffled Hog in Stokesley. The food was perfect, beautifully cooked lamb, veg that all tasted of their own unique flavours (depressingly rare on a Sunday lunch) and one of the best cauliflower cheeses I have ever had. Staff were charming, they?d left a birthday greeting for my wife on the table and even stuck a candle in a stuffing ball when they served her food. We were very touched they had gone to that effort.
Another family had a very loud barking dog that I wouldn?t personally have bought to a nice restaurant, but it failed to ruin our lunch despite its best efforts.
We?ll be back, really, really good.

My wife and I visited 3 days ago, I can highly recommend this place, tasty food, decent portion sizes, pleasant ambience with ideal background music at a sensible volume and very friendly staff, who were attentive but not overbearing. Excellent!

Visited here for dinner on a Saturday evening for dinner as we live nearby. Been a few times for lunch but this was our first time for dinner.

What can I say had a bacon and egg sandwich with the spicy tomatoes chutney was absolutely great very tasty will just buy that in future would love to know how I can get a jar of the chutney absolutely love the taste

We went in here yesterday for lunch, got an unwelcome vibe just after walking through the door, an icy glare from the blonde haired girl serving. A man came down the stairs and attempted to help but he was cut short by the girl. We waited to be seated and when seated we waited again for some menus, the girl eventually came back and threw the menus on the table and walked away. We felt this was not the way that we wanted to be treated in a restaurant and left, so rude. We didnt sample any food so are unable to comment on that but would not go back to be treated this way.

Well? where do I start! Firstly forgot to take order. Waited 45 mins for breakfast. Poached eggs, cheap white unbuttered bread ( 1 measly slice) Scrambled eggs(4) looked like 2. Pancakes far too much raspberry puree which overwhelmed everything. Will

I went for breakfast recently and I really enjoyed it. The food was lovely, a very interesting dish that was very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and the venue was lovely. Well worth trying. I look forward to going back again.
