Dinner was ok and stuff was friendly. But our room was a desaster! Furniture has seen better days , wifi was non exsisting. Bathroom was very moldy and dirty! For the the high price a complete no go!!!

This place delivers exactly what it advertises. This is not a posh location but a walkers inn. Muddy boots and dogs are welcome. So with that, do not expect luxury. These are simple accommodations, but it?s clean and comfortable. WiFi in the rooms (or my room) was nonexistent and no cell service, but good service in the bar area. Wolfgang is such a nice man and cares about his guests. FYI, fellow walkers stayed at the Wainstone Hotel and said it was awful and they left as early as they could. Stay at Buck Inn.Rooms: Simple but clean and comfortableNearby activities: Cleveland way, C2C, etc.Walkability: Ride from clay pit (although the paths down from east of the Wain Stones area are well worth the hike? there?s a lower path that goes by cute farms. And another path you can take along the ridge to Chop Gate. Also, a path back to the Cleveland Way? aka, I avoided the car pick up and return, but it?s available if desired.Food & drinks: Best German food. Schnitzel to die for.

We went for a ride out and popped in for lunch.....they had completely sold out of food!! As we arrived a man immediately told us that they had no food (apart from the huge collection of cakes), so we decided to stop for a drink and come up with a plan b. There was a large selection of lagers and 3 beers. I had a nice pint of Timothy Taylor's and my husband had a lager shandy. Although we didn't eat, the welcome was warm, the pub and toilets were spotless and the menu looked very tasty! It would seem that we will have to go back to try the food ?

Fantastic little North York Moors inn. The welcome is warm and friendly. The bar meals are a delight - Wolfgang is an amazing chef. Well worth beating a path to their door for supper. Kevin & Sandra Baugh

What a surprise - incredible food, amazing beer and the friendliest welcome after a long day's walk. And little oasis in the middle of the moors and the perfect night's stay. Thank you for your kindness to our family - we would love to come back!

Excellent place to call, has 6 to 8 German lagers on tap plus 3 taps of Timothy Taylor's, Sunday dinners very good with everything genuinely fresh , how many places give you properly cooked asparagus with Sun lunch? Remainder of menu has Germanic flavour , all food is excellent. Very popular with walkers and dogs very welcome

Amazing welcome and the food was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here whilst walking C2C, it's slightly off route but we were collected by Wolfgang in the evening and dropped back in the morning to continue where we left off. Thank you.

This is easily one of the best pubs I've ever been to. It's small, quiet, and feels like you're coming home. The selection of beers are great, the food is amazing (I had the burger - highly recommend) but Wolfgang, Helen and Catherine, who run the place are really what makes this place special. Very welcoming, super helpful and lovely to talk to. We camped in the beautiful garden for one night and woke up to have a superb full english breakfast. If you're coming past this way, or deciding on either staying at Kirkby or Chopgate on your Coast to Coast walk, definitely come here, you will not regret it!
