Had the Roast Chicken Sunday Lunch and was impressed. A very generous serving for a regular portion, and a really decent price of £12.15 for my soft drink and lunch.
A very tasty lunch with plenty of chicken and an extra jug of gravy and managed to finish it. The only point to mention would be that the roast potatoes weren't great.
Would highly recommend.

This had the most 'genuine' atmosphere of any pub I've been to. Really friendly regulars, all having fun, as a community should. I went here to relive Drax, I hadn't been in 30 years. This pub had large parts remodelled, that was the first good sign. In 'my day,' even though I was too young too drink, it was a down at heel place. The new owners have done a fantastic job. The atmosphere was really, really lively. There was no horrible music blaring, it was lively because people were actually enjoying talking. I spent most of my time charging my bike, but when I got chatting to total strangers, it was like you'd known them forever, and they knew people I used to know.
And the best thing about this pub? THE FOOD.They only do food on Friday Saturday and Sunday, though I think everyone wishes it was every day. Seriously, this food is to die for. Not because it was super fancy, but because it got the basics SO right.
There were no pretentious swirly lines of sauce criss crossing over plates or anything like that. No tiny leaf of pasley or fennel on top of anything. This was a good thing. Because when you tasted your food, you could see why.
This food, was exactly how your family used to make it, generations ago. It gave me deja vu of my Grandma's cooking. This was honest Yorkshire food. Not pretend continental. There was steak pie, and chicken n mushroom pie. You could see when it was sliced, the filling was basically a block of actual meat, with the gravy there to fill the cracks. None of this 90% gravy with a few bits of meat. Nah. When they said this was a steak pie, they meant it. I had the chicken n mushroom pie. So much chicken, and the mushrooms were super meaty. They hadn't been reduced to nothing like in most places. It was warm and hearty fare. Chunky chips too. I had the applie pie with custard for afters. And it was huge. And so tasty. None of this 'tiny slice because its expensive' boloney. They'd really slathered the custard on... and... gavin a separate jug of custard too, 'just in case.' Its like, my Granda wouldn't have dreamed of letting us finish a meal still hungry. And neither would this pub. I was so full, of actual food, not corn starch or weird ingredients. Just actual lovely warm food.
If you want an authentic Yorkshire experience, this is THE pub to go to. You won't find anything more genuine than this.

Very much a village pub but don't let that put you off. The food was great and locals and owners had a good welcome for all.
The price was also good... two mains and two halves of tap cider for £25.30.
My wife asked for no chips and they provided the biggest chicken breast they had and extra salad.
Great value.
Parking: Several free parking spaces on their land at the side of the pub

A long time since we've been here. The Sunday lunch is served in 3 sizes. The small plate didn't look sufficient so ordered a standard size. The serving was really big and I struggled to finish it. My wife could not.The veg was really fresh and great Yorkshire puddings .The meat was really tasty but tough in parts - not enough to complain about. The welcome was warm and friendly and the cost was definitely inexpensive and worth it.

Walked into this pet friendly pub after a stroll from the local sports club (not dog friendly) met a local horse and rider in the carpark enjoying a wine (rider) and a packet of crisps (the horse).Lovely welcome from the landlord and a couple of we'll kept beers at not a bad price to say its the only pub in the village.Came back the next afternoon to sample the food which was a short burger and chicken menu with daily specials. Burger and huntsman chicken came with mixed salad and REAL home made chips. Portions were ample and all priced at less than £8. An absolute bargain!Vegetarian options: Halumi and veg burgers available
