The food was exquisite, best pie I've ever eaten- the crust was not at all soggy. The service was wonderful and came with a side of local lore (only at request and not pushed on you). Highly recommend, if you stay in this town book a table!

One of the worst places to visit if you want to keep your holiday enjoyable.
We were a group of 4 visiting this charming village (we traveled from Leeds) and chose this place for lunch. We ordered 8 beers and sat outside in the garden area, only to find out they were not serving food on Sunday (10 Aug) ? for reasons never explained. Since there was no sign or announcement stating that bringing your own food was prohibited, we got some takeaway from elsewhere.
A middle-aged man, who appeared to be the manager, approached us in an extremely rude and aggressive manner, shouting that we were ?disrespecting the place.? We calmly asked if we could finish our drinks before leaving; he said ?yes? but then, seconds later, changed his mind, saying: ?Actually, your drinks are in plastic cups, so take all your stuff and leave.?
We avoided creating a public scene, but we noticed that other customers in the garden looked shocked by his behaviour. As we left, we saw people sitting right outside the front door eating fish and chips (see pictures attached) from trays purchased at the takeaway next door ? yet no one told them to leave. This made the treatment we received feel discriminatory and targeted.
Extremely poor service and unacceptable behaviour. Not recommended at all if you want a pleasant day ? they can easily ruin it for you.
Shame on you, guy's.

Awful costumer service from the pub?s manager. I and my friends wanted to order some food and drinks but they told us that they don?t receive food orders anymore. So, we ordered drinks and bought some take away. We didn?t know that it is not allowed, especially because we saw other people that ate in the front, outside the pub also take-away. The pub?s manager came and started to argue us because of this and just kicked us out of the pub even if we had the drinks bought from them. He didn?t let us to finish our drinks, even if we told that we didn?t know about it, so we told him that we will not eat, just finish our drinks, take the food and leave. He didn?t let us to do it, just argued and kicked us out. When we left we even listened to another customer from another table how he told that it isn?t nice from them to do this. I understand that every pub has his own rules but it doesn?t mean that I as a customer should be treated like this. Really rude, and disrespectful. Definitely will not recommend this pub, poor customer service!!

Great steak really tasty and second visit i had steak and ale pie also very good.
Its a must if you like peas and chips.

Shocking. I?d expect better food at a budget transport cafe. Obvious a complete change from top management down. We have eaten here for many years, and it?s always been excellent. Not today, a £12.50 Steak sandwich? Look at the photo and decide for yourself. I have honestly never been served anything so bad.
