First time been for a meal. Had a starter and main meal. Was superb. Only criticism was the main meal came out too quick after the starter. Next time I will ask for a gap between them. Also the garden could do with doing up as the grass was long. Couldn't go outside if you wanted. Definitely go back as food was fantastic.

Came to the Barn for the first time tonight. When we went in couldn?t have been better with the setting, the decor and the service straight away, knew we would be returning. I ordered a fillet steak MEDIUM, it came medium to well. I hate complaining in restaurants but the nice waiter came over to see if everything was okay, I politely said the steak isn?t how I ordered it and I?m really sorry to moan. He said that?s absolutely fine I?ll take it and speak to the chef. 2 minutes later he returned with the same plate of food I handed him, the steak was cut into 3 pieces and the waiter said ?the chef said it?s cooked properly? again as I hate complaining so I accepted it and continued to eat my meal (as I was hungry, and it was £35!) We finished our food and asked for the bill. We spoke to a nice waitress and she did apologise but said she couldn?t do anything about it as ?she would get into trouble? but said the chef can come and speak to us ?in a little while? as service was busy at the time. The staff decided to knock 25% off my meal which I thanked them for. I returned home, checked the receipt to find I had been charged an extra £13 for a glass of ?sancerre? (which I don?t know what the fu*k that is) and an extra glass of Pepsi. Never one to complain but I will never return to the barn. I?ve heard good things but tonight was shocking with the service/food and the attitude by chef staff.

Visited tonight and ordered a fillet steak meal which was requested as medium, came out well done and kindly spoke to a waiter to explain this despite really not wanting to complain. The food was taken back into the kitchen and cut up by the chef and sent back out to be eaten and told it was cooked how it had been asked. Despite this my partner ate the food, and I then discussed with a waiter afterwards how disappointed I was with the chefs condescending attitude. This meal was £33 and not cooked how it was asked. I was then told the chef would come and speak to me as he wasn?t adamant it was cooked right which I kindly refused as I didn?t want the same attitude from him that the staff got from the chef. Eventually they knocked 25% off of my partners meal which was lovely until we got home and now realised we?ve been charged for a glass of wine and an extra Pepsi that we didn?t even order!! So Thankyou for the £8.50 knocked off but actually we?ve ended up paying more for what we didn?t even have. Unfortunately I cannot email the restaurant as there is no email and no answer on the phone line. Will NOT be returning. So disappointed as we don?t go out often and thought this would be nice but left feeling let down.

The atmosphere and service are good. Disappointing main course though. Attended a set menu event, where only one veggie option was offered. Would not recommend their veggie stroganoff (which lacked veg) served (without rice) on a bed of runny mashed potato, with overcooked, colourless cabbage. Really poor. Consistency of puree. Thank goodness for the apple crumble.

Eight of us had Sunday lunch, eight empty plates! Delicious flavoured gravy, nice fresh vegetables. Cauliflower could have done with more cheese sauce and would have liked thicker sliced meat. Altogether though it was very good.
Desserts are very tasty, chocolate sponge and chocolate custard, back to school dinner days, treacle pudding the same. All very light like a sponge pudding should be.
We will come again.

Was recommended to this place recently. Today, we tried their Sunday roast, and it was the BEST we've had since moving to Norfolk last year lovely building great service smashing staff and amazing value for money we will return soon
