There's something very special about bookshops and this one has access from Castle Meadow too, which means (rather perfectly) that you can browse in here whilst waiting for a bus or coach. Even better, you can visit their great cafe for a good coffee as well. Here you will find clean toilets too (individual rooms).

This Waterstones is always a pleasure to visit - it is particularly pretty. It has a great atmosphere and kind staff. The store has a wide selection of books, and it is easy to navigate, with clear signposting. The café is fabulous too.

I?ve always had excellent experiences at Waterstones ? it?s usually a solid 5-star visit. However, my recent interaction with a staff member (a tall man with glasses) was shockingly poor. When I didn?t immediately hear him call me to the till, my companion let me know within seconds. Despite that, he loudly called out ?Hello??!? with unnecessary attitude, which caught both me and my friend off guard.
The rest of the interaction felt rushed and disrespectful. He aggressively scanned my Waterstones card before I?d even had a chance to finish opening it on my phone, slammed items down, and overall behaved in a way that made it very clear he wanted me out the door as fast as possible so he didn?t have to deal with customers.
It was genuinely one of the worst customer service experiences I?ve ever had, and completely out of character for Waterstones. If the staff member next to him hadn?t been occupied, I imagine she might have stepped in ? his attitude was that over the top.

My daughter, grandaughter and myself attended a book signing by the boy band star of The Wanted. Jay Mcguiness was an absolute gentleman not only did he sign his book for her but also her treasured boxed doll of his younger self from way back when. Well done Waterstones it was a well organised event and went like clockwork. Thanks Jay you made her day ?
