Had an amazing first stay with you the weekend just gone. Really enjoyed it, so much so we are looking at coming back in July. Been a firm favourite with the in-laws for a few years now.

We love The Ship Inn. A perfect spot right next to the beach. Fabulous food and super friendly staff.
A total dog friendly hotel with access for dogs in all areas.
On arrival we had a dog bed, tote bag with treats, poo bags and a ball as well as a dog bowl in the room.
The room is a great spacious size giving plenty of room for the dogs to enjoy. The bed was so cosy we even had a lay in.
Staff were courteous, kind and friendly.
We will definitely be back again. Thank you for another wonderful stay.

We spent a lovely night at the Ship Inn in the middle of March after my wife was given a voucher for her birthday. It did not disappoint that's for sure.We were warmly greeted at the check in by a member of staff who directed us to our room for the night. We stayed in Room #1.The room had a great view of the sea in which you could sit and watch the world go by in the comfy seats. It had knick knacks all around the room themed on old cigarettes and nautical. Which was eclectic but fun.The bed was comfortable and the facilities included tea, coffee, biscuits, and water. Along with a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Also, it has to be said that the bathroom was amazing with a great drench shower to use I did not want to get out.We opted for food at the restaurant and again that didn't disappoint either. My wife went for whitebate as a starter which was lovely and cost £8.95. I opted for mozerella sticks and chilli sauce. Again that was very nice and £8.95 too.My wife then decided to go for large cod and chips which are cooked at The Catch chip shop next door and were HUGE! So much so she couldn't finish it all. That was £15.95 and well worth it.I decided to go for Cumberland sausage and scallion mash with seasonal vegetables and onion gravy. This was £13.95 for a large portion and was delicious. We both decided that we were just too full for a dessert and retired to our room.Breakfast was served between 9 & 10 am and was delicious as well. The coffee was the best I've had for a long time and I do know it was a member of the staff's own recipe. The staff were lovely! Very friendly and chatty and seemed to enjoy their job which is always a good sign. So, a big thank you to them for making us feel welcome.I would definitely recommend staying at The Ship Inn. Look out for special deals early in the year as well.

Four of us booked a meal for 7:30 one evening, we were hurried to chose our meals as the kitchen closed at guess what? 7:30.WHY not tell us that when booking and say come at 7:00 or 7:15?Two of us had fish and chips, one had the Chilli con Carne and one had the chicken and we all said - bland and absolutely tasteless, the fish and chips werent greasy - that's all you could say about that, one had curry sauce ALLEGEDLYThe Chilli so bland and tasteless we asked for chilli sauce but they had none, then asked for some Tabasco sauce to liven the dish but apparently the bar had none of that , we were staying round the corner so one of us hurried to the house to get some sauce - just VERY disappointing , interesting no one asked if the meal was fine , guess they knew the answer?

The Ship Inn is a beautiful place to stay and enjoy a holiday or a special occasion. The Service, food and accommodations are everything you could possibly want.Dogs are made extremely welcome which is a real bonus if your pet is a member of your family. We will most certainly be returning.Rooms: Nautical themed rooms which given the area was perfect. The outlook and sound of the sea was tranquil and yet exciting. The gardens below are lovely during the summer to sit outside and eat and drink and they also are surrounded by glass panels to protect you from the wind. The sea view is beautiful and calming. This pub has everything you could want,Food & drinks: The food was really good. Served nice and hot and large portions. We were never rushed to complete our meal and there was always somebody on hand to assist if you needed anything.

Eat in the restaurant for Mothers Day there was 12 of us in the party we pre ordered and the only fault was a couple of the soups were only lukewarm, but they were happy to take back and re heat. We ordered a 3 course meal but with the size of the portions two would have sufficed! Reasonable prices; spent about £45 per person but this was without much alcohol.

We have just had 2 nights at The Ship Inn, the staff were all really helpful and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant both nights and enjoyed our meals. We were given a room upgrade which was wonderful....has never happened us anywhere else ! The full English breakfast was the best we have had.....there are several other options to choose from too. We even had sunny weather as a break from the very wet and grey winter so far. Thank you to all the staff .

We have just had the best 2 night stay with our dog Lucy. The food is lovely and fairly priced, breakfast is amazing and Lucy loved her sausage. The room we had was beautiful and clean. I would really like to mention the staff at breakfast and Nick ( hope I have this right) who settled us in and made us so welcome. Our Lucy decided to take a wander and sneak out of our room where she met the lovely ladies who clean the rooms. They made such a fuss of her and gave her the most thoughtful gift of a dog bag filled with treats, I think Nicks dog did the modelling for this. Thank you all we cannot wait to come back. One of the best dog friendly places we have ever stayed.

Dropped in for lunch after a long chilly coastal walk - the place was warm and comfortable. Great service and our food was lovely. Well presented, plenty and good price. Can't fault anything. Will happily return.

Christmas Day lunch was very disappointing. Parsnip soup wouldn?t even drop off the spoon it was puréed parsnips with deep fried fish tasting parsnip crisps. Turkey dinner arrived with processed turkey just a dessert spoon of gravy on the plate so had to ask for more. I think the sprouts had hit the boiling water then straight out couldn?t even get a fork in them and the whole meal wasn?t hot. Dessert the Christmas pudding was the best. There was no Christmas atmosphere background Christmas music would have been nice. It was like sitting in a works canteen plus dogs! And we were in the restaurant part. Tables were minimal white cloths with just a cracker no effort to make it look festive. At almost £80 a head it as overpriced . Spoilt our Christmas Day especially as I could have done a far better job at a fraction of the price even allowing my time and electric. Such a shame when we have dined there a few times lately and had excellent meals. Certainly won?t be going for Christmas there again.
