My best friend and her wife got married here a few weeks ago and for a start the receptionist who had long dark hair had the audacity to make a homophobic comment which is completely out of order as well as calling the children who was at the wedding feral just for playing around as kids do. We arrived at the venue the day before to find the rooms we came to decorate for the wedding were still full of dirty food and mess from an event that was days before. Not only that but we weren?t allowed to decorate the venue until 1am the night before the wedding. The food we had the night before was rank as well as the food on the wedding day. The wedding day was a complete mess and so unorganised, they served people will intolerances the wrong food and the owners reply to an email concerning all of this was him laughing. How disgusting would not recommend at all.

Came here for my friend's wedding. We turned up the day before as we were staying in one of the suits. We turned up and weren't really given any instructions on what we should do or were we should go. Went in to look at where the wedding and the wedding breakfast would be and there was food and stuff left all over the place from the party before us (which we asked the lady at reception and she couldn't tell us when the last party was) The lady on reception(long dark hair with a fringe) I think her name may have been tori was absolutely horrible. She made homophobic comments and even had the audacity to call the kids that were at the wedding ferral.( infront of several people at the wedding) During the wedding breakfast the ladies that have allergys were given the complete wrong meals which could have had them ending up seriously ill. All my girls wanted to do was enjoy there wedding day but they were made to feel uncomfortable and discriminated against which is absolutely disgusting... I will say a thanks to the night porter that was on that night. He was the only one that set the brides mind at ease! So thankyou to him! But I really really wouldn't recommend having your wedding here! Things seriously need to be looked at...

AVOIDDDD!!! If your wanting an organised wedding I definitely would NOT recommend coming here. Made my friends stressed & upset the whole time. They served wedding breakfast of bread to a GF lady, nothing was organised or done correctly. Spoken to absolutely disgusting & not welcoming whats so ever. Called children who were apart of the wedding ?dogs? & made homophobic slurs. ( lady on reception dark hair & fringe) really ruined should have been the best day of my girls wedding uncomfortable & stressful throughout!!! I really hope things improve!! I used to love going here but I definitely would not recommend even taking my dog here.

We booked a table for 6 for Saturday lunch. I looked at the menu in advance and was surprised to see a 2 for £11.95 option. We chose the homemade pie x4, chicken kebab and the Oak Bar steak (see pics)We were overwhelmed by the quality and value of these meals and cannot say a bad word. The service was excellent and there was even a live band due to the mothers day afternoon tea event.We will certainly be visiting again soon and have already recommended to others.

The lady on the front desk had dark hair and a fringe was so so rude to us the second we walked in and wasn?t welcoming and made us feel uncomfortable, she shouldn?t be in this job she made a homophobic comment about me and my wife and called the kids we had at our wedding dogs because he slipped over at the front, she is absolutely disgusting and this behaviour should not at all be acceptable!! She was the First Lady we saw so the first impression was awful !! The food we had the night before the wedding was awful and taste less and it?s so sad because we love to come eat here Harry was absolutely lovely and friendly!! We was told different information all day long to when we could start decorating and then as soon as my mum turned up we was told we couldn?t get in the 12:30 at night to start decorating when we turned up the wedding venue there was dirty food left in there it was an absolute mess from whenever they last had a due which we was told it was a while ago ! But the night porter was the first person who spoke to us like we were human !! He was absolutely lovely and couldn?t have done enough for us and reassured us that everything would be done !! I wouldn?t recommend getting married here as it really was a big mess and we are absolutely guttered about the whole thing !!

We had a well deserved Sunday roast at the Oaklands after our 5 mile walk, beef cooked to perfection, everything on the plate was so tasty, the gravey just how I like, staff are friendly and polite.Would highly recommend.

The hotel is located in a nice location. The hotel is old but seems well kept. The room I stayed in was a little dated but comfortable.The breakfast was fantastic and the service was excellent. Same as receptionist very helpful when I checked in, friendly and helpful.
