Fantastic customer service from Kimberley Spencer at Red Lion Street today. Nothing was too much trouble, so following her recommendations I was able to open an ISA, saving accounts and a credit card. Perfect thank you.

After speaking to customer services via phone (who were very helpful) I was advised to go into the branch to discuss closing an old account (which I thought had been closed in 2009) and withdrawing the funds. The issue wasn't resolved due to most of my details changing in the interim and the account apparently not being accessible, so I was informed it would not be possible to withdraw the funds or close the account. This isn't the cause for my complaint however; more so the hostile and unprofessional manner of the lady at the counter. First so for informing me that my deed of name change was not acceptable to Barclays; despite it being acceptable to TSB, Nationwide, the DVLA, the NHS, HMRC etc. She very unprofessionally laughed with a colleague about how the agent I spoke to on the phone was wrong and should be sacked and offered me no way forward to resolve my problem, accept for unrealisic advice such as to bring id from my previous name; we all know old official id, once changed, should be disposed of. All followed by a shrug of the shoulders.Very bad experience, very unprofessional and unlikable manner, not ideal for a customer-facing role.Again; no problem that the issue was a little complicated, I wasn't expecting it to be easy. But there is no need for staff to have a flippant, borderline rude attitude towards a member of the public who is not showing the same lack of curtesy. If this is the calibre of staff, I think i'll stop being concerned about the lack of bank branches and I feel lucky to now bank with Nationwide whose customer service has always been good.

Have never had any issues here previously. However, I found today's visit far from standard you might expect from a leading UK bank...Saturday afternoon closing early seemed like an excuse for the remaining staff to 'look busy' for the last hour, while essentially doing nothing. There were up to 4 staff welcoming customers to the ATMs, but any other enquiries or business customers were directed ONE member of staff (very helpful though) with an ipad - result, a 40-minute wait for a 3-4 minute enquiry. An array of pop-up banners blocking off the counters and old sellotape residue stuck all over the pillars just made the place feel very unprofessional and tardy.By contrast, we had to visit the nearby Halifax/RBS branch on Gentleman's Walk afterwards and was welcomed by what you would expect - counters open and staff not itching to get away! And they were open 2 hours longer.

My husband and I visited Barclays Red Lion st. Norwich to close anaccount and transfer the balance to an account in another bank. This was on 2nd December. To date this has not happened and wehave no idea where the money is. Head Office does not seem toanswer the telephone. We don't do online banking and the branch staff seem uninterested. It is now 16th December.

Went to pay in cash today, to be told by the greeter (who always tries to shoo you towards the machines) thet you won't be to do that much longer. I asked the teller about this and they told nme that Barclays is becoming a digital only bank. ie NO customer service!Time to look for another provider that gives a damn about customer service instead of trying to get you to do their work for them!

Abortive visit yesterday to do an urgent CHAPS payment. Told to return at 9.30am today (when bank opened) and I would be first in the queue. Arrived on doorstep at 9.25am to find branch heaving with customers and I had to wait an hour. Eventually sorted and CHAPS fee waived which was all the hapless employee could offer (apart from his obviously sincere apologies)Recently closed branch in St James Court was heaps more efficient.

It's coming to something when you have to take a day off work to pay a cheque in to your bank. The only branch is in the city. I only get Sundays off and it's closed on Sunday. The cheque is too big to pay in at an ATM. I think it's time to change banks.

Rubbish bank hardly ever any bank staff on the counter offering face to face service dreadful opening hours mon to Friday the only one that matches it is Santander and the staff are not very nice either me and my wife turned up to do a bank transfer at 3 minutes past 3 and they would not see there way to let us in even though my wife had told them that it was very important that it be done that day because we were moving house.

I had received a suspicious text claiming fraud on my account. Went into the branch for some guidance. They allowed me to sit at a private desk at the back of the office, use their phone to call the fraud team and gave me assistance throughout the call. Fantastic customer service all round. Friendly, helpful staff that I have nothing but praise for.

Don't come here on a Saturday at 12, awaiting for my partner as he has had app issues, been here 40min so far just to pay off a credit card, speaking to another lady she had fraud and been estimated a 2h wait, she is 3rd in a queue, her new card didn't work when she was sent it. No refreshments, 4 chairs all full, oh dear. She is thinking of moving to coop. With me.
