Nice hotel, very nice staff and the location is perfect. It is much cheaper to park on the public parking lot in front of the hotel, than the parking lot that the hotel manages behind the hotel.

What can I say Dukes head, exceptional on all levels! arranging a birthday night away for my daughter. From the moment arranging booking with Shannon and the emails from Joe and the reception team making it so easy to make her stay special and memorable! Grand looking hotel, well situated in the town square, but actually pretty ordinary. Big gripe for me was arriving after a long drive, to no warning on their website of the £15 charge for the car park. On the positive side the receptionist was more than pleasant and very helpful.

Really enjoyed staying at the Duke's Head. The room was up to date, in a hotel with period features. The location is fantastic. The car park is tight and busy but it worked for us. Next day we stayed in another hotel, twice the price, smaller room, similar parking, worse location. The Duke's Head was excellent value, even at twice what we paid. We stayed two nights and the room wasn't serviced in-between, but they would have if we asked and I felt that's a great way to provide great value. I don't need clean sheets every day. Well done.

On arrival we asked about their car park as spaces are first come, first served but receptionist was unable to say if there was any spare places as she said ?I don?t know as we don?t have CCTV? somewhat silly considering the car park is littered with cameras.. there was plenty of spaces but it was the last thing we needed after a long 8 hour drive. The breakfast wasn?t all that either, if I?d known I?d have popped over to Spoons across the road?

Check in ok , room seems ok , problem is TV have no signal , couldn't watch TV at all , talked to the reception before went dinner just before 6pm , see if they can sent someone to fix it , been told they will do , 3 hours later back to room checked TV , still have no signal , called reception again ask why TV still have no signal , been told someone ready fixed , then they just ignored , this is a really bad service !

We had a great overnight stay at The Duke's Head, to be ready for the GEAR race the next morning. Claire on Reception found a Z-bed for our daughter - many thanks Claire, you went above and beyond!! It's a beautiful, old hotel with tons of history, and in the perfect spot for the GEAR race. Comfortable beds and large bathroom and a coffee machine in the room. Friendly staff. Perfect.

This hotel proved to be a wonderful choice during a visit to my grandmother in the hospital. I'd considered a few other options in the area, and I'm glad I ultimately decided to stay here.
The standout feature was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. Their cheerful and engaging personalities truly brightened my stay; they were always ready with a friendly chat, a genuine smile, and even a lighthearted joke, which was a welcome lift.
Beyond the warm welcome, the hotel itself offered a lovely selection of shared sitting rooms. The comfortable furniture provided a relaxing space to unwind. In the mornings, the breakfast was a fantastic value, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious bacon ? a real treat!

Drove across the country only to be told 15 minutes before arriving the hotel was overbooked (despite my booking having been accepted) - offered relocation to a sister hotel out of the city for the same price separating me from all the colleagues I'd booked with.
Had I known the hotel was full before booking I would have booked somewhere else closer. Not ideal!

Nice hotel staff pleasant.
Not a good place if u want to sleep at the back is a function room. We are right above it. We might as well be at the function. There is now mention of noise or anything when u book the room
So they take the money thankyou and u suffer until its finished. For anybody who is a light sleeper do not go near the back of the hotel ask where your room is going to be or u won't sleep at all.
