Myself and a group of friends stayed here over the weekend as part of a friends birthday celebrations. We were really impressed with how beautiful the hotel was and the service received, the girls on the bar went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special and we had everything we needed. Food was lovely too. Will definitely be returning.

I am very disappointed by check in at this hotel today.I have stayed here a number if times, but have no wish to return.I live in the NW and for the past 20+ years have stayed in hotels up to six nights a week, usually, bit not exclusively, for business.I do not give my card over to be held in case of room charges, most hotels stopped asking for this some years ago, or made it optional.I booked via Hotels. Com who have a booking cancellation policy, which is understandable.I was unable to check in without giving my card details and the cancellation window had lapsed. This left me with either losing the monies paid for a room, or handing over my bank card details which I am not comfortable with. The person checking me in was calm and professional, she went to ask her manager for advice. That person elected not to come out and explain, leaving the woman on reception to explain the hotel policy to someone who was annoyed at such an archaic, and previously unknown, policy at this hotel. One of the young male staff stayed with her as visible support, should she deem she needed it.The policy needs reconsidered and the manager needs to support staff fully.

The village is a lovely little community, and the building itself is great, the staff were really friendly and they made me feel really at home, the food was done really well, had great presentation and was really tasty, the rooms were spacious and the beds were lovely honestly such a nice place to stay and I'm definitely gonna re visitRooms: The rooms were well kept and had a lot ot offer evidently a lot of care is taken when it comes to themFood & drinks: The food was 10/10 and their chef is a wizard in that kitchen, I never waited long for any if my meals even when busy and it was honestly delicious, try the moretti because it tasted really crisp and was so refreshing

First off, I found 2 spiders in my bed and the rug was dirty. Room 21. Second off, you have to be joking charging £12 for a cider, and ?10 for the same cider. Reception was also lacking in basic abilities to understand an issue upon checkin. And Valentine?s Day, no kitchen open, just pre ordered meals for guests who had ordered. The old style hotel was however, nice.

Went for a Sunday carvery 11th Feb and I must say altho the food was lovely the service was terrible, our meals arrived and then that was it really, we wasn't asked if we wanted anymore drinks and we wasn't asked about a dessert menu, albeit the restaurant was quite empty at this time and then were clearly more interested in cleaning tables rather than serving paying guests, we shall not return sadly.

Initially all was rosy. Front of house staff friendly and acommodating. We checked in and given room key to the external annexe or coach house. A couple of stains on the carpet were noticed and photographed. Dinner in the hotel was had and all fine although took a long time considering how few customers were present. Returning to the room and noticed that televisions either side of us were audible, and later on conversation clearly heard, and much later snoring. Sound proofing rather inadequate here. But for the late hour we would have requested a change of room. Other details were the lack of a bulb in the over-sink light fitting, dirt and debris behind bathroom bin and the wardrobe light not working. Come morning we checked out and left a list of observations about the room including the stains with reception. No receipt was offered at the time. The same evening our bank statement showed that an extra £100 had been listed as pending. A couple of days later it was confirmed as a payment to the hotel. Phone calls ensued and we were told that the charge was for damages which was queried and we were told it was dog damage. This was a total surprise to us as we had not been advised that it was a dog room, furthermore we do NOT have a dog. Time stamped photographs of the damage were requested and sent to the hotel. We were told that management or owners would contact us when back at the hotel later that evening. No call was received and further calls (recorded) were made to no avail. The following morning another call was made and after some on-hold time we were told that the payment would be refunded, which it was two days later. So, whoever cleaned the room prior to our occupancy knew the stains existed, so why try to charge us for the "damage". Management was clearly not prepared to talk to us and didn't, which was disappointing. At no point was any form of apology made...also very disappointing. If using this hotel I would advise checking every aspect of the room and facilities, and complain as soon as possible to avoid this sort of unpleasant experience. We will not be staying here again.

Nice place to stay. Built in 1655 apparently. The room I stayed in was biggggg. Unfortunately because its an old building there was a few issues. Didn't bother me but I can see that it might do to others. Going by other people's photos, there are better rooms. Enjoyed my stay and had some good food. Staff were great ?

Think they were hideously understaffed when we stayed. Staff trying to do reception, bar and restaurant at the same time. Waited 1.5hrs for dinner and it was not so good. Most meals had thing missing. Shame because it's a lovely spot and a nice building. Perhaps it was just an off day.

We went here for Sunday lunch last week. The food and service was great. Two different sizes of carvery to pick from. Plenty of veg. Light and airy dining room with table nicely spaced unlike some other places. Jodie really looked after us. Would love to go again when we are next in the area

Been twice now for Sunday dinner. Very nice! We do plan to stay overnight, so can't comment on the rooms at the moment. Very attractive period building. Scole seems quite quiet now and since the bypass has gone in. Somewhere nice to walk after your dinnerNearby activities: Situated just off the A140, quite a central position on the Suffolk / Norfolk border for getting to places of interest. From historic towns and castles, seaside venues to zoo's.Food & drinks: Great food. We've been back again as we enjoyed the Sunday carvery so much! Beef, Pork and Turkey, obviously cooked just right. Great selection of veg. Lovely roasties and Yorkshire puddings! Nice comfortable bar area to sit and enjoy a drink or two first

The hotel made an error with our booking. Didn?t notice it for a weeks but they did call us and come up with a solution that worked. Rooms are comfortable although you can hear your neighbours. Everything was in decent working order.
