My partner and I decided to go to Vera?s today just on a random lunch date. Service was amazing. As soon as we entered there was a young lady ready to seat us. Staff are busy bees, cleaning, serving and taking food orders. Air con was lovely on a day like today! We had the scampi and chips and jacket potato with cheese and beans. Portion sizes are huge! Prices are decent for what you get! Couple of soft drinks. Plenty of drink options available too. Cake selections is a dream! Victoria sponge was lovely! And the viennese swirls are huge! We sat indoors but the outside area looks lovely! Definitely be making it one of our regular spots from now on!

Cakes and general portion sizes amazing. Nice, clean and well decorated space. Service is very very slow though. So slow that we laugh about it every time we go and take bets on how long it will take. Putting hot water in a tea pot and cutting a few slices of cake shouldn?t take over 25min?

Arrived at 11.25am and was told that the breakfast menu finished at 11.30am. We tried to order before 11.30am. We were told that as it had been a busy morning, no further food (except cakes) would be served until 12.00pm.
We left! An unusual way to run a cafe - no food for 30 minutes in the middle of the day.

We had such a lovely time strawberry picking with our little ones aged 1-2 years old so went to visit the cafe for lunch. We had 3 prams with us due to ages of our little ones.
One particular member of staff before we had a chance to sit down as we working the best way to sit with highchairs and what table would be best and sorting prams out came to us rudely and said don?t leave the prams in the walk ways.
I would have understand this comment if we had already said down but this was unnecessary and we brush this off.
Later as we were finishing our lovely lunch- food was great! We were getting our little ones in to their prams for safety reasons before we then could clean up our mess- like we always do. The same member of staff came up to us and just handled a dust pan and brush to my friend and then watched over my friend saying ?that?s kind.? How patronising and just absolutely rude as well as unnecessary!! We haven?t had the chance to make a start of cleaning up the food from the floor, out of common decency.. if you have children you understand how messy going out for meals can be!
We left feeling like our wonderful morning was ruined by this rudest and unfriendly of this member of staff. We did report this to another member of staff who was very friendly and welcoming and did apologise but made us feeling the cafe isn?t baby/ child friendly! Very disappointing.
You should not be working customer facing if that is how interact and communicate with customers!!

Breakfast service finishes at 11:30, apart from the times they decide that it finishes earlier. I would suggest that if they are going to have a schedule for their service times that they should really stick to it or make sure it's clearly advertised! A real shame as this is twice this has happened now in a few weeks.

Absolutely heaving on a busy bank holiday weekend. Nevertheless, we were seated quickly (on the covered patio where dogs are welcome) and served equally promptly.
We sampled several of the large range of cakes and all were delicious and now that we?ve seen the spread provided for Afternoon Tea, we will definitely be back.
Edit: well we wanted to return but sadly we discovered that afternoon teas require a minimum of 48hrs notice.

Wife's birthday party of 6 when we order desert 5 of us wanted cheese cake only to be told there was only 2 portions so 3 of us went with out only to another cheese cake put out 5 mind after other 2 had been served your waitress obviously to tired to go and ask if they had any more won't be coming back it ruined the day

We decided to visit here for one of their themed evenings, which was burger night. We have previously visited for lunch a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, so wanted to try one of the evening nights. The booking process was easy and went smoothly. On the night, staff were friendly and attentive. Food was served quite quickly (it had all been pre-ordered) and arrived correctly with the changes we had made (no salad in one burger, and no cheese in the other) which was a huge relief. The themed burger menu did not mention that the burgers all came with coleslaw so this was a pleasant surprise, although I would have been a bit miffed if I had ordered coleslaw as a side (which I was debating doing but decided against in the end) only to find they came with coleslaw as standard. I think this should have been mentioned on the menu. The pork and apple burgers were nice, but unfortunately neither of us could really taste any apple in them, and they also certainly did not have the apple puree in them which was stated on the menu. There was no mention of why it was missing so this was a bit disappointing, but it was still an enjoyable meal. The best bit was the homemade white chocolate and biscoff cheesecake, this was AMAZING and a real show stopper!!! It was a huge wedge of cheesecake, very generous portion size and tastes really good. The only downside was that it was very hard to taste the biscoff flavour as it was just biscoff biscuits on the top, the cream cheese filling was not made with biscoff biscuits, so the biscoff taste got a bit lost because it was so rich and defendant, but even though it ended up tasting almost like a vanilla or New York style cheesecake instead, it was still Incredible and one of the best I have had. I would definetly visit again for lunch or another themed evening and certainly for cheesecake as this was definetly the best part!

Stood at the counter this afternoon at 14.30, with 5 staff on clearing and cleaning away, they were happy to take payment from customers who jumped the queue and we were still ignored. Came away annoyed as we?re local and have used Vera?s a lot. We understand the early closing practice of the cafe and just needed cake and tea. But at 14.30, we found that to be a tad early and we?re not told otherwise, simply stood there invisible despite being right beside paying customers. A closed sign at the door would have been appropriate and obvious.

Vera's is a lovely cafe situated in a garden centre. There was a good variety of meals on offer as well as cakes and bakes. My partner had a breakfast which he was very happy with. It arrived quickly and the portions were good. I had a sausage sandwich with added bacon and a hash brown which cost extra. We both had a coffee which was great.
We will definitely go back...good food, lovely staff and good value. 1

Vera?s has become my favourite place to go for a cream tea, although all food served is tasty.
The cafe/restaurant is always spotlessly clean, the staff are always helpful and friendly and the food is delicious.
There is an added bonus that Vera?s is part of a garden centre that also offers a small scale grocery store and lots of healthy plants to peruse whenever I visit.
