Bar and waiting staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food arrived quickly and was very good quality. (The chips were insanely good). 5 stars well deserved, cheers guys.

I take my Mum out every Sunday for lunch and we like to try somewhere different each week. This weekend we went to The Chequers. We were served by the lovely Alice who is an absolute credit to the pub, bubbly, friendly and extremely helpful. Unfortunately we had quite a wait for food but I wasnt overly concerned as my Sundays are definitely chill time, although I could hear other diners complaining. The roast dinner when it arrived was lovely as was the dessert and we both said we would come again. There's a lesson to be learnt with the wait time but your lovely waitress and the food outway the negative.

Had lunch here Saturday. Lovely welcome and great service from Ella. Food was excellent.
Only thing we found odd was the absence of a wine/drink menu. Will return.

Had the Pork Belly and it was perfectly cooked and tasty. The burger and chips were also very good. Lovely service. Would visit again

Went for a Sunday roast. Wasn't overly busy when we were there. Food was a huge let down. Lamb croquette starters were cold and mushy and had no flavour. Roast beef mains tasted lovely but were cold again, beef was tough and potatoes a bit card boardy, clearly it had been cooked much earlier and reheated (not enough). Such a shame because the flavour was lovely but spoiled by the temperature and toughness. Dessert was a let down also, barely any cookie dough in the sundae and the crumbles were luke warm again, generous servings but not warmed properly. Service was fine but nothing to shout about. Had to order our own food and drinks at the bar, starters and mains were served and cleared promptly but desserts took a while to arrive.
All said, none of the food was warm enough.

We were so pleased with the level of service by the very bubbly and kind lady who served us today. Thank you for making what was a difficult day better. I would definitely recommend this pub. Very clean, good pub food and just an overall nice place. Thank you.

We popped in after a walk for a sunday roast today, the veggie nut roast is fantastic, the beers are great too, dog friendly and loads of space outside. Cool old pub will definitely go again

Always feel welcome and good food. The pew seat by the fire is not comfortable and I wish they could sort out the drainage: there is always an unpleasant smell from the toilets.

Went for a nice family meal.. they seemed annoyed we were there.. there was only 2 other couples in the restaurant at 1pm
I asked for 3 diet cokes and a water which came to an astonishing £12 (she asked me if I want ice or lemon with her back turned to me the whole time) didn?t make eye contact once.. we felt really unwelcome and therefore uncomfortable.
We sat at the table for 30 minutes and no one came to take our order..
We decided to leave at this point and spent £150 at the fox in hevingham which I highly recommend.. we were welcomed, and had a friendly service with brilliant food and atmosphere.. as a result we left them with a generous tip? chequers looks drabby and dreary inside which suits the staffs personality..

Booked mother's day Sunday lunch for 2 restaurant full as was bar ,plates cold as was 2 of the veg roast beef 2 slices paper thin.over priced not worth the money.will not go there again.
