We loved the cottages and the 1950?s room which provoked much reminiscence and delight. The workhouse was very poignant especially the census book that held the names and ages of various men, women and children who were admitted. The doors that were headed ?Men and Women? bought a bit of a lump to my throat as I imagined of all the poor souls that had walked through. The cafe was excellent with delicious food at a very reasonable price. The farm cottage was an absolute joy and staged brilliantly. The farm itself is also interesting with a magnificent array of very well cared for animals. All in all an absolutely marvellous day out and worth every penny of the admission charge. We would thoroughly recommend a visit.

My go to place. The only shame/downside is it closes at the end of October for the season. I get so sad when winter comes. My lovely go to is closed ?. I just LOVE Gressinghall workhouse.

Great indoor and outdoor experiences, really good for kids with a brilliant new outdoor play area. Mixes the old Workhouse museum with the historic working farm. Closes soon for the winter. For special events worth booking in advance

I have been visiting this museum since I was a child, and now my daughter also loves it. We have a Norfolk museum pass and in my opinion this is the best in Norfolk. We love the wealth of Norfolk history, we particularly love the exhibits where rooms and cottages have been set as they would have been back in time. My daughter uses a wheelchair and the museum is incredibly accessible with many disabled access toilets. The cafe is lovely and not overly expensive. The play area is amazing. The museum farm is also lovely. Generally easy to get tickets on the day unless you visit on a special event weekend when buying in advance might be advisable. Great value for a lovely day out for all the family.

Spent all day here lots to explore and experience. The workhouse exhibition was very well presented as was the Norfolk life exhibition. The grounds were well kept and varied.plessant walk through woodland and river walk the farm was interesting shame we found none of the cattle. Plenty of toilet facilities all around the large estate thoroughly enjoyed a full day out.

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, farm area was well kept and lovely to walk around. The museums were fascinating and the food and drinks in the cafe were not only excellent value for money but all homemade and delicious

Arrived at the entrance to purchase our tickets. The staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Due to a hip issue, I have difficulty walking, so was offered the use of the scooters available for people with walking issues, to get around the grounds. Also I was told there was a lift in the main building to enable me to get to the 1st floor if I had difficulty with stairs.The exhibits were very informative and I found the building very bright and calming, considering it had been a workhouse. The cottage in the grounds was the same, giving a very homely feel.We loved the post office and shop which certainly gave us an insight to former decades.We also had lunch at the cafe, with more friendly staff and again it all had a very pleasant atmosphere.Thoroughly enjoyed our day there and would definately encourage a visit, even though the view from the road is a very austere building, as they were in the day. However, within is a different story..... ?

Fascinating insight into workhouse history and conditions. Wish we could have returned next day, as being older, we were physically unable to see it all in one day thoroughly!Good cafe. Can recommend the carrot cake and the quiche was scrumptious! Great for all ages. A party of schoolkids were enjoying the experience whilst we were there too. Thankyou for a great day out.

What a great place to visit we were lucky enough to have a guided tour by Beryl who knew alot about the history of the workhouse...then we went off and explored the other floors.

As a family we have always loved this place. Definitely a full day out with the farm, river walk, play area and museum. Great to see they have updated the playarea, a very big improvement. Have been visiting since my daughter was 4 years old and she still has a great day out at 9 years old.

The revamp is very impressive, with new visual/audio displays, spacious rooms with plenty of artifacts to view and lots of fascinating information about life in The Workhouse, all presented in a way that doesn't bore you quickly. The cafe was reasonable, but not a lot of choice. It was a lovely sunny day, so a walk around the grounds was pleasant. Everything seems well maintained too. We walked over to the farm but we were very disappointed not to see a single animal. There was a tractor ride but it created a lot of dust as it moved so we gave it a miss. Slightly expensive but we did enjoy our afternoon.
