I visited on Monday. The girls on shift at the time were great. Friendly and very helpful. I felt sorry for the girl who served my chocolate and salted caramel cake, who seemed mortified about making a mistake of putting my cake in a bag and not a plate but I said it was not a problem. We all make mistakes ?

Staff were very friendly. Witnessed them being very kind to an elderly lady who needed help finding the bus station. A member of staff walked her there. Very good customer service.

Both girls serving today were miserable. No please or thank you. I understand at times the cafe is busy but having worked in customer services for over 40 years. A smile and a thank you goes a long way.

This is my second time been here and yes it?s always the same. The staffs are very smiley and friendly but only when if you don't have a different skin colour. They will even make it obvious for you so you don't come back. I ordered a wrong cake as the level was confusing requested to change it in the till didn?t even touch it, said sorry for misunderstanding the level, and they acted like i set their house on fire?. While having my coffee i saw the staff arguing with another customer, guess what she had a different skin colour like mine. The atmosphere is the unfriendliest among my whole Costa coffee outlets experience in the UK. They should write it on board outside that they are gonna be horrible to any different coloured skin. Worst experience ever!

Costa in St Helens is a great little place to go to for a brew. Especially if you have the Costa App.It can get a bit busy and noisy with all the customers, so it?s not somewhere I can work from but it is nice and warm, which is a huge plus.
