We first started using this pharmacy due to mum being on the community system. The professionalism here is fantastic. Mum's medication is ready and delivered on time each month. Sue the pharmacist and the rest of staff at are wonderful nothing at all is too much trouble. Sue is Always available to answer any questions we have. Just this week we were anxious about something re mum's blood pressure and her medication, Sue instantly put us at ease, her knowledge and understanding and customer care is second to none and put an anxious daughter and her 80 year old mother at ease. So grateful for the team at Sandringham pharmacy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sandra Andrew

Depends who you get on the counter! A middle aged female counter assistant is very pleasant and helpful but a young female is fairly hopeless! They often don't have what the GP has prescribed and say they can order it and it will be ready to collect after 5pm when I'm on foot and live a distance away. They won't deliver a prescription either unless you're elderly and housebound. Pharmacist on phone annoyingly called me 'Mrs' and didn't even bother to apologise when I said I'm not and girl on counter suggested I get a bus to a big Tesco's to get more ear drops I don't even need from a pharmacy there assuming they would have the drops! I also had what I can only assume is the pharmacist staring at me while I was stood there! You need to have both the time and patience and good luck getting any prescription, there stock is very limited.

OK pharmacy, but uptight - they will only sell you one of each thing at a time. I came for Sudafed after visiting the doctor. I told them I needed enough for one week, but they would let me have only one box, which is just enough for 3-4 days if taken every 4-6 hours a day as prescribed. I also wanted hydrogen peroxide to clean up cat pee, but they would only sell me one bottle because they said it's their policy since they were low on stock. I counted 7 bottles on the shelf, and as far as I can tell, hydrogen peroxide is not in high demand in this country (in the US you can easily get a liter bottle at a quick stop - it is commonly used as an alternative to rubbing alcohol for disinfecting wounds). Also, they could restock if they feel they are running low. Their strict policy of selling only one item at a time does not make sense to me, and I found the pharmacy only mildly helpful.

This is a great little local pharmacy with all the products and services you would expect from a great pharmacy, and I would definitely recommend it. You can find those quick items you need like shampoo and cotton buds, pick up your prescription, or even just have a chat with the pharmacist. Hey, why not?

McCanns Pharmacy is a small shop situated on Aigburth Road, close to the nearby Sandringham Medical Centre and very convenient for collection prescription items after seeing a GP there. It is only quite a small shop but it is very well stocked selling baby items, hair dye, deodorants, make up, dental items, spot creams, sweets and much more in the main part of the shop. Behind the plexiglass screen they have an excellent range of over the counter medicines which the staff are very knowledgeable about. If you need any advice on prescription medication then there is always a pharmacist on site. They are very knowledgeable and helpful and will whatever they can for you. I often get my prescriptions filled here and even though I have several items on my prescription they are always prepared quickly and accurately. Every now and then the pharmacy might be short of one of my tablets but they always have them in the next day at the very latest. They also offer a repeat prescription collection service where they will take your repeat requests to any local surgeries for you and then fill them, which is very convenient.

A pharmacy should be a solid and trusted place that people visit to buy essential and important personal items relating to their well being, that is exactly what you get with McCann's Pharmacy. There is very little to say about this establishment on the whole but that is a good thing as they go about their business in a knowledgeable and no nonsense fashion. The staff here are friendly, trustworthy and really know what they are talking about which fills the customer with a great level of confidence. More places should take note of this establishment as it is a great model for how to run a well respected and successful business.
