The local Lydiate shop that stocks everything. And never seems to shut either. I've popped in at 7am for milk and called in at 10pm for bread, its amazing how the staff can stand up, never mind remain so bright and cheerful. But they do. And they remember the little things, that's what makes this place so important. That beautiful, old school, personal touch. Why line a megastore owner from America's pocket when the little hardworking fella on the corner gives so much more attention and care? I'm sure The Walton Family don't know my grandson's age, name, or medical history. Or care. Y'know what, I fancy some part baked bread rolls. Catch you later x

Whenever I see shops with names like 'Village Store', I always think of small, odd corner shops like the one in 'The League of Gentlemen'. Obviously in reality I'll probably never find one like this, especially in Lydiate, but I'll always live in fear of Tubbs appearing from behind the counter. As it is, Lydiate Village Store is a great place to go if you're looking for some essentials and you can't be arsed trekking to the supermarket, for fear of seeing someone you know or just because you're worried you might get lost in there. They offer a good range of goods including frozen foods, tinned goods, bread and milk as well as beverages of the alcoholic variety, perfect for those nights when you don't fancy a supermarket trip or an off-licence either. The prices are usually a little bit more expensive than the supermarkets but you're paying for the convenience of having it around the corner and all in one small shop, so I guess you can't really complain, can you?
