Our food was totally forgotten about. Customers who ordered after us had finished Thier meal by the time we got ours. Unfortunately ran by young people with no customers skills or personality.

Just had roast dinner at child of hale hale village Speke.
Staff nice, service awful they forgot to order our meals 40 mins later only because my husband went to ask why we?re still waiting.
Meals came they took 5 mins, tinned peas, sloppy carrot, roast potatoes that were cooked obviously early morning not roasted to be honest roast beef was nice, chicken was like rubber and gravy was nice, best of all it was cold, my husband and love giving a score for each meal we have on this occasion it?s a 1 out of 10.a chef would be embarrassed to dish up such disgraceful food, staff gave apologies we left.

Not sure how the current rating is 4.4 so leaving a review as warning for others. Cold rooms, considerable waiting times eventhough only a few people, food poorly cooked and served, instant undrinkable coffee.

It was a quaint place for me and my grown up kids to have a hearty lunch after a chilly winter walk. Friendly staff, very good pub food. Enjoyed by all.

Really disappointed with what we thought would be a hidden gem, popping in for Sunday lunch after a walk down to the lighthouse. The staff were friendly enough, the decor dated in places (the trip made to the polar north toilets via a door which looked like it hadn?t been painted in decades (no paint where everyone had pressed against the door to open it).
The meal itself sounded like it had potential an I ordered a slow cooked lamb shank with mash, beans and minted gravy in a deep bowl. My better half had chicken (breast?) with mixed veg. I struggled to cut into the lamb at first (probably been sat under the heat for a while as there weren?t that many customers in) and once I did there wasn?t a lot to it. It sat on a bed of mash that just didn?t taste like mash (I read a previous where someone had written ?Smash? and I can sort of understand why?. probably zero milk or butter in there. I ate about a quarter of it and gave up. Beans uninspiring and overcooked. The plate itself was stone cold so it didn?t give the food a chance to stay warm for long. My better half left half of her meal and we left, feeling totally underwhelmed. Sorry, must try harder ?

Don't know whether it has changed hands recently but we had awful ding food my wife had steak and ale pie with mash pie inside was lovely the crust was like rubber probable microwave, mash was smash the only thing nice was the gravy. My fish was frozen and microwave, there was skin on the fish and it wasn't white, it was hard to cut with the knife chips where again frozen and dinged.whole meal was very dry and tasteless. Won't be going there any time soon.

Decent food but very few veggie options. Brilliant location and nice interior. Not an expensive choice of drinks. Brilliant soup.

Lovely old pub very close to Liverpool Airport but tucked away in the quiet little village of Hale; a five minute cab ride. This pub serves beautifully cooked food in lovely surroundings. Perfect for a relaxed dinner if you are staying in an airport hotel but want something a bit more welcoming and cosy!!\nThe staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, which is very important to us and the dinner was deelish ? Very tasty nachos to start followed by a beautifully cooked vegetable lasagne - no photo as was too busy enjoying it ??. Couldn't resist a pudding though - apple crumble and ice cream (other toppings were available) which was yum. My partner went for the chocolate brownie which was also a big hit.\nBig thanks to Ian and Belle - we will definitely be recommending to other travelling friends ?

The moment you take a bite, it?s clear this is no ordinary burger. Juicy, tender, and flavorful patty with a perfect sear on the outside the cheese melted perfectly, rich without being too heavy with fresh crunchy salad its a burger that feelings comforting and indulgent and every bite just leaves you craving the next. If you?re into a burger that?s as much about the bun as it is about the patty, this combo is a total winner.

We only had a coffee and packet of crisps in there. We had been to my mum's grave at Hale Churchyard
