Nice enough looking coffee shop from the outside. Ordered cake, cheesecake and a couple millionaire shortbreads. They said the cheesecake was biscoff but turned out to just be plain vanilla. The victoria sponge was nice enough but dry and not that much filling. The millionaire shortbread was small and dry. Waited a rather long time for just four drinks and turns out they ran out of milk. Asked multiple times for the drink and they said they'd be on their way but we still had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for four simple drinks. Not a great experience overall.

Service took forever to come to us, they had only 1 other table in that had already got their drinks/cakes, so this was unacceptable. I ordered biscoffe cheese cake and was given vanilla. They then proceeded to forget the drinks so we had to ask and then we had to wait 30 minutes for these. Again we were one of two tables, they were not busy.

We visited Stamford and stopped for a coffee in this cafe. While we were inside the rain started so a guy who was working behind bar offered us an umbrella. It was so kind of him and we so touched! I would like to thank him again if he's reading this message! Highly recommend this place as the stuff really cares about their customers.

Wonderful Café with Great Food!
I always have a great experience at Cafe black. The food is delicious, the coffee is made perfect, and the staff are warm and friendly. I?ve tried many of the food items such as the paninis, salads and French toast and always enjoy it. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Maybe it's not a good idea to go on a Monday! The bread was really dry and the ham inside it tasted slightly rancid. The cheese and tomato were OK. I did eat it and haven't had any gastric problems but there is no excuse for not serving fresh products! Service was slow and a little chaotic. My second cup of coffee wasn't decaff, though I requested it again.

Sat down and after 10 minutes had to ask yo be served. Waited 40 minutes and no food arrived. Went to the counter and asked what was happening was told problem in the kitchen. No apology so we left. We heard other customers saying they had waited an hour.

Over 20 minutes wait for a takeaway coffee. Continued to take other orders or payments without making a single drink.

We went today for lunch today and it was terrible the food was awful hard crisps the salad was well past its sell by date the service was awful the staff were miserable please avoid this cafe is the worst.

With the new owners taking over and turning this cafe into something special there is no doubt that this is the best cafe in Stamford. They have a new menu which has a variety of different foods, deserts and drinks, a extension upstairs giving you a nice view of the markets on weekends I cannot praise this cafe enough.
