“I went in yesterday, with my partner who is a local, and was very pleased with the selection and prices. I found what I was looking for: some books on local flora and fauna as well as some unexpected books on embroidery and other hand crafts. I also saw many popular fiction novels and they had a very good children's section. My partner picked up some lovely books about art and history. If you truly love books then you will surely find something you want!”

“I popped into the Spalding store the other day (01/09/2025) and, I must say, it was a breath of fresh air. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm smile by a lovely young lady with long black hair — reminded me of how shopkeepers used to treat you when customer service actually meant something.

I wasn’t quite sure what the item I needed was called (these modern hobbies have all sorts of fancy names), so I asked a tall blonde chap nearby. He was polite, attentive, and quick to help — told me I’d described something called “diamond art” and showed me straight to it. Not only that, he helped me choose the perfect ones, He even carried the two I liked over to the till for me. You don’t see that sort of care much these days.

While serving me, he chatted about the new Christmas and autumn designs — no rush, no pressure, just genuine conversation. It felt like he actually enjoyed helping people, which is rare now. As I left, both of them wished me a lovely day, and you could tell they meant it. That sort of sincerity sticks with you.

I won’t be bothering with Smiths again for my stationery, books, or art supplies. This store’s earned my loyalty. Highly recommended — especially if you appreciate service with heart.”
