We went to the Crown and Mitre in Tydd St Giles for Sunday lunch, we were greeted by Tash (very friendly lady) behind the bar who showed us to our table with the minimum of fuss. There was a choice of Beef or lamb for the Sunday roast. We had a drink at the table and our lunches turned up in good time. The lunch was a proper cooked and prepared on the premises lunch, a very good portion, the meat was perfectly cooked and a good thickness not the paper thin offerings of elsewhere. It was wonderful. All cooked by Mick the licensee, wonderful job. It is now our default venue for Sunday lunch. All the locals were friendly and chatty, the atmosphere was of a proper old village pub. I knew Mick from about 8 years ago , he remembered me at first sighting, the mark of a first rate publican. Thank you both for a wonderful lunch and visit. Lynne and I will definitely be back.

We popped in for a bite to eat on the 25th Nov, but sadly the chef was off for the evening, but don't let that put you off calling in here, the atmosphere was brilliant, proper old time boozer, staff were very friendly and welcoming, locals all took time to chat with us, the chef was off for the evening to enjoy the 3 fancy dress birthdays all being celebrated that night, well ? The costumes were hilarious, I even got served by a Nun, brushed past by a cow,I kept trying to chat up the the guy in miniskirt which just made the whole experience all the more funny, anyway, the Buffet came out for the birthday guests and we were immediately told to help ourselves ?So, thank you Ashley , Quetin, Julie and Jeff and everyone else in that night, we haven't laughed so much in a strange pub ever before.Kind regardsDarryl &VictoriaP.s, Victoria bumped into a friend she hasn't seen in 30 years ????We will call in again soon???

My husband and I who are visitors to the area had wonderful meals. Both meals under £10 and my husband said it was the best beef steak & ale pie he has ever had!!!!! Big portions and homemade. The locals are a friendly bunch too. Our dog was also welcome?. there?s dog treats and water available! This is a real old traditional pub that deserves a high rating!

A group of us came here for a drink after bell ringing at the village church. Great traditional pub atmosphere. Staff and locals were friendly. They had very nice real ales.
