Went for breakfast - the manager was excellent, very polite and courteous. Service was good and breakfast was delicious - I had the full English and the sausages were spicy and delicious along with the choice of eggs. They won?t swap items but that is clear from the start. We sat outside but the service was attentive and friendly- the filter coffee was good. Definitely seems the place to come with many drop ins and people making it a destination spot.

We were treated to brunch here by a friends when staying in the area. They said it was their favourite place in the city for breakfast so I had high expectations. We found a table outside opposite the asylum which was lovely. The lady serving was friendly and chatty and when the coffee came out it was great. Unfortunately it went downhill after that. We were initially served the wrong thing so it had to be sent back. When the right thing arrived it was lukewarm so had obviously sat out. The pancake 'stack' my husband went for was tiny, 3 tiny pancakes... I would describe it as mean!! My avocados were mushy and slimey. The balsamic dressing and pesto were most unwelcome on a breakfast dish. And my salad contained couch grass! I recognised it from my allotment. Sufficed to say it is not edible! Its also extremely expensive compared to others in the area. Incredibly disappointing.

The Lawn hosted Afternoon Tea for our graduating students and the staff couldn?t have been more friendly and helpful. The food and drink was absolutely delicious! We all had a magical afternoon. Thank you to Sid and the team. You are amazing!

A little gem. Friday night meal with a friend was fabulous. Amazing service, atmosphere and small plates. Would definitely recommend for an evening meal with great cocktails and summer vibes.

We arrived a little early for our booking but this wasn?t a problem and were offered a choice of 3 areas/tables to sit at. Our drinks order was taken swiftly and the afternoon tea arrived shortly after that. Delivered to the table by the chef. He was really friendly and chatted about the selection of food. It was all absolutely delicious. We were asked part way through how our meal was and if we needed anything else. Staff were so polite and friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Looking forward to going back. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited Stokes with friends on Saturday afternoon, just for a drink. Despite there appearing to be lots of staff, the service is pretty poor. Making the initial order was a real chore with the waiter taking ages to find anything on the screen of the till and being clueless about what was available. When we did eventually order our 5 drinks, only two arrived. After 10 minutes, we enquired about the other drinks and the waitress was again completely clueless that we had even order them. We had ordered 3 different gins and when we told her this, she responded with oh well they don?t automatically go through to the bar from the till! Like as if that was our fault. It then took another 10 minutes for the three drinks to appear, with us having to enquire twice again if they were on the way. When the three different Gins did arrive they all had so much cucumber in them it was impossible to tell the difference. Overall a disappointing experience and a shame to say we won?t hurry back.

Attended for a family breakfast. Normally so good but on this occasion sadly very poor all round. Service wasn?t helpful, even though very quiet at the time of our visit - just after opening. High chair provided was dirty. Beans on toast, sausage sandwich and 2 eggs Benedict arrived cold. Accepted the children?s meals as both young children hungry, however returned ours. Unable to eat together with no apology from staff. Expensive breakfast for a v disappointing visits.

The staff were so kind and helpful and donated an amazing gift box for my daughters charity event. The atmosphere in Stokes is friendly and always smells divine.

Went for breakfast, bacon and tomato sandwich, very disappointed bread very dry, forgot tomato, hardly any bacon in it and expensive. Had to wait ages to be seated, waiters flitting about, ignoring queue at door. Will not be going there again

Situated right across the road from Lincoln Castle entrance, Stokes is a great watering hole...extensive menu for sandwiches, other bites and drinks. Sat outside to enjoy sunshine and people watching whilst enjoying choice of refreshment...reasonable pricing for excellent quality of orders and service. Grwat location to rest up and just relax - mix of locals and tourists. We had tuna / cucumber ciabata with accompanying fries with ginger tea and cafe latte.

So disappointing, Lincolnshire sausage sandwich except that it was not a proper Lincolnshire sausage, no texture, no taste, sandwiched between ghastly highly processed sliced white bread. In most cafes we visit we are at least offered a choice of bread or even a ciabatta roll. To be honest it wasn't any better than a second rate transport caff. My elderly friend was unable to lift the tea pot it was so heavy! Maybe a feedback form would be a good idea.

As Lincoln residents, Stokes is regarded as a bit of an institution, been a regular visitor for many years , but based on our experience today, we?ll think twice before going again. Arrived about 12.05 , shown table , the couple next to the table offered had two small dogs , not sat on the floor , but on the seat almost next to us ! Obviously we requested another table , which took a lot of faffing about as they only wanted to give a two table . In the end they had to give a four table , my wife ordered a sandwich ( menu states comes with salad garnish and fries ) I ordered eggs Benedict with ham . When my wife?s sandwich arrived it looked very unappealing, had better a better presented sandwich at a transport cafe . My order came with spinach not ham and my wife?s came with no salad garnish, but coleslaw . When we asked where?s the salad garnish we were told , that it comes with coleslaw, in fact all dishes come with coleslaw not salad garnish! Well either they should tell the staff or better still change the menu wording ! They did bring a side salad , with a pretty unsavoury Dijon dressing? I returned my food and waited , waited the next effort had ham , but it seemed to be all they had done was kept the same eggs as they were hard , terrible. When we were asked if things were ok , we informed the manager the whole experience was pretty terrible, we?ll below the standard. On paying at the till we again , voiced our opinion on the terrible experience, she took 10% off the bill ! So if you want to chuck £22.31 away this is the place , go elsewhere to spend your hard earned money
