If you have dry eye then please consider undergoing testing and treatment from Dr Smith. I travel all the way from Scotland to see him (about a 5hr drive each way). Dr Smith is one of the few dry eye specialists in the UK who undertakes Meibomian Gland Probing. He is extremely knowledgeable about dry eye and it?s clear he spends time keeping up to date with the newest advancements in the treatment of the disease. My symptoms have improved massively since undergoing gland probing through his clinic.Unlike some other Drs I?ve seen through the NHS, I found Dr Smith to be very understanding and empathetic to the condition as he knows how devastating dry eye can be to people?s quality of life.Additionally, the staff in the clinic are very helpful and polite anytime I have dealt with them. I?ve had to cancel last minute due to poor road conditions and they could not have been more accommodating.Fantastic experience.

Had my annual eye test recently. Excellent service. Professional, efficient and very friendly. I had chosen some new glasses which when arrived were not perfect but we started again and I am delighted with the ones I have now. Nothing is too much trouble. Really happy with the outcome. So refreshing for a company to give such excellent service these days. Thank you.

Great opticians, friendly, approachable and professional team. Very thorough eye tests carried out by Martin alongside Kate the optical assistant. Both Martin and Kate are very friendly and professional, put you at ease explaining everything throughout the eye test. You feel you are getting an excellent service. All the ladies Mandy, Corinne and Kate on the front desk are friendly and polite. Jenn who I see from the dispensing team is lovely, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She has a knack of knowing what frames would best suit you and is very patient. She is a joy to deal with. Would highly recommend Martin Smith Opticians. I?ve been seeing them for over 2 years and would not go anywhere else. They give an excellent high quality service, great value for money and very modern and forward thinking opticians.

recently visited Martin Smith Opticians for my annual sight test, it was my first visit to an independent optician and I was impressed by how knowledgeable and friendly the staff were and how modern the practice is. The tests are very in depth and use the latest technology to give a comprehensive check on the eyes. My specs are fantastic; I use computers every day for work so they tailored the lenses to filter out blue light, which make using screens far more comfortable over long periods. Would recommend to anyone who wants real expertise and a personal service.

I have been visiting Martin Smith ever since the practice set up in Saltergate in 2004 and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Not only is Martin one of the highest qualified and most recognised optometrists in the country, with some of the latest technology designed to detect a wide range of eye conditions early, but the staff at the practice are highly qualified in their own field. I always receive a friendly welcome and never feel rushed whether it is for a routine examination or to order some new glasses. Although I tend to choose a similar style of frame and lenses for my glasses, they offer a great range from affordable to designer labels. If you want a fanstatic personal service rather than the lure of special offers or catchy advertising, then I can't recommend them enough.

I love my new driving glasses, the light sensitive lenses make night driving so much easier, reducing dazzle and making it easier to concentrate. Fabulous service, the whole team really go exceed all expectations.

Absolutely brilliant! The staff very friendly from the start! Very up to date equipment. Martin explained everything as the test progressed! Jen helped me choose my specs and gave her professional opinion on each pair I tried. Highly recommended!
