Absolutely a fabulous pie shop! We eventually made it, after flight mishaps! Not disappointed at all! Great choice of pies! Shared the sausage roll started, wow, devine! We both chose the beef and stilton with horseradish mash! Amazing! Served with fresh veggies too! So glad we are visiting, as our figures could not take these glorious pies, so many choices, all need sampling in my opinion? ????

Arrived on New Years Eve to be turned away from a booking that was made well in advance for the restaurant. The booking was made for 17:00 and confirmed by the pie shop via email. On arrival we were told that the kitchen closed at 16:30. A friendly and helpful lady went to find the manager/owner?When he arrived to speak with us, he was not apologetic. His reply to the issue was; ?I emailed you?. Suggesting he emailed us, in advance to cancel the booking as there was obviously a mistake made, on there part.I find it hard to believe that you can forget what time your kitchen closes for the day.I never did receive said email. The manager went upstairs to find email. We left before he could come back as we didn?t want to waste our time. The only thing we were offered as we left was a free sausage roll to take with us.We were very lucky to get into another restaurant up the road, this was very busy and they needed to the table back from 18:30 so this made our evening feel very rushed. We heard such good things about Browns pie shop and we were recommended by a family member, unbelievable disappointed.

What a fabulous eaterie! Pre Christmas lunch with my niece and this was the perfect setting. The food was delicious and hot & all of the staff that we encountered were really friendly and welcoming. Thanks for a perfect dining experience. Would definitely recommend.

We all 4 ordered pies and mash or chips and that?s what we got, pies were good my dessert was Luke warm at best with cold bits inside. Service was friendly and good, however the bill for smallish portions and a drink each came to nearly £140???made worse by a service charge of Over £14 we were in and out in an hour and we even made the mistake of not noticing this and left a tip which had already been included certainly not good value for money!

We ordered venison pie with gravy and seasonal vegetables. The food was tasty but the pie was very small. The coffee was served cold; so we had to re-order it.The customer next to us complained about his pie being cold. There wasn't a lot of atmosphere there.By the way, the young male waiter handled the situation very well and was very pleasant and confident.

The pie and the service were great. And we had a lovely night with friends at the pie shop.

In descent. This was my third visit to BPS, the first many years ago, and how it has deteriorated. The main problem is the staff. I?m afraid the cast of The Adams Family seemed to have moved into catering. There was only one member of staff who seemed to possess an understanding of how to engage with customers - and if you?re reading this, and you?re tall and bearded - it definitely wasn?t you! I witnessed: customers entering the premises who were not welcomed. Others were seemingly ignored. Other customers were engaged in inappropriately-long conversations whilst other customers stood around, as if waiting for a bus. The tablets, used to id table orders didn?t work. People waiting to pay were confused with those arriving. Over all this chaos Hagrid?s slimmer and younger brother seemed to preside with an irritating and just-too-loud a demeanour, as if all his utterings were addressed to the entire restaurant. I suspect BPS is a sinking ship.

It was ok. Pies seem to be getting ever smaller, but still tasty.Where we sat was cold so suggest in cold weather sit near the warm

The christmas menu we were sent wasn't being used, we booked for 7.30pm & were asked to arrive at 8pm due to staffing. There were only 3 tables seated when we arrived it wasn't busy. 16 of us in the cellar so had to sit separately was supposed to be a works party. no draft beer available, no wine glasses they gave some of us gin glasses. Food was but a £18 for a pie is steep. The staff came down several times around 10pm to say they were closing soon. The Grinch stole christmas & the reputation of this once great restaurant

Enjoyed a family meal in the rustic settings of the restaurant. The pies were very nice. Throughly recommend the Steak and Spitfire ale. However our visit was dented by the extreme greedy and ill thought out service charge. The service want great and I have never seen a charge applied in such a basic restaurant. I asked for the charge to be removed which was not a great place to be after what was a nice meal. Very poorly thought out.

Lunch was so good on our first day we returned for Supper the next day. Food and drink is amazing and service is impeccable. Stacey is an excellent hostess and all the staff are friendly and helpful. As you'd expect the pies are the star of the show but I'd also highly recommend the pork belly, melts in the mouth. If you're after something to takeout, the sausage rolls are amazing.

So disappointed. This used to be a fave place of mine to go eat that was a little bit special but reasonable. Unfortunately it is now neither a little bit special or reasonable. Portions are incredibly small. Four tiny heads of broccoli, a spoonful of carrots and a spoonful of red cabbage does not serve two! Pie tasted nice but again was very small. A lot of casing and not much substance/filling. Puddings were the worst. Sticky toffee pudding that was like a burnt treacle sponge. Told the waiter but no feedback/comments. Four spoonfuls of lukewarm lumpy custard as a side to the pudding. The cheeseboard was even sadder. Four pieces of cheese paired with 5 crackers, the tiniest portion of butter and a tiny spoon of chutney. No grapes, apple, etc. Staff were 'ok'. A blond waitress didn't seem to know the menu well and seemed annoyed when we asked questions. Lots of sighs, face like thunder and eye rolls. Katie however was the star of the night. However the worst part came when we got the bill to find a £12 service charge had been added. I don't mind tipping (in fact I think we should!) but I don't like it being added. When we asked the waiting staff if they got this money they said 'no it goes to the owners!' This is shocking behaviour. We promptly asked for the service charge to be removed and left cash for the wait staff in the hope the greedy owners don't get this! I wouldn't recommend and unfortunately I won't be back. No longer special - it is a pie shop but they need to change their prices to reflect this.

Not what we were expecting from what people rave about. Food was very school like with small portions for the money. Desserts were again small for the price and the custard was luke warm. Unfortunately I would not recommend Browns to friends as there are much better restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Called 30 mins before we were due to arrive, to be told they could not accommodate the food intolerance request, which was asked when booking 2 weeks prior, for a special occasion.Hugely disappointing.
