I visited mid-September.
Bread, cakes, coffee, only opened a few months before my visit.
Pleasant decor. Very limited seating. More seating outside.
Two girls behind the counter, pleasant, tried to be helpful, but clueless on coffee
Poor quality coffee. Very sad looking croissants. The croissants very poor compared with Grain of Truth Bakery in Lincoln or Overoll Croissanterie in Athens.
Extensive wine lists, spirits alternated between crap and quality. Why bother with the crap? One solitary cocktail, Aperol Spritz.
A very large restaurant below. Did it have its own menu? It was not clear, was it a different business to the coffee shop. A very different vibe to the coffee shop. Three people, I assume staff, sat at a table. I was ignored. No, can we help you? No diners.
A small deli selection. Chocolates adulterated with emulsifiers.
I bought a jar of sauerkraut. And focaccia stuffed with roasted peppers and hummus. It was for my tea later, only I was tempted by a little Sri Lankan Nepalese Indian restaurant, stayed to eat (which was excellent).
Not a bakery, bought in.
A small regional chain, but not apparent, each location has a different name.
Update: The stuffed focaccia I ate the next day. The following morning, diarrhea.
Update: Poor quality sauerkraut.
Wheelchair accessibility: Access yes, toilets no.

Thought I'd give it a try. Wasn't disappointed.
Loved the use of the downstairs space, so different from the 90s late bar/club days.
Cake great, coffee decent, proper cups that ain't poncy. Will deffo us again and I didn't find the prices too high, just fair for the quality of the environment to enjoy them in.

Have been to Westgate on multiple occasions and on the last two visits both my wife and I have had different pastry items of which all have been stale and by no means worth the price point.
Coffee is good when made by the right person and staff are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic food, very clean and nice atmosphere.
Vegetarian options: Avocado on toast with chickpeas on sourdough was not a big portion and a bit spicy, but very good flavour!

I think the 3 reviewers prior mine today say much of what I very much agree with. Very impressed and good and worth visiting again or regularly. **
I was just visiting Grantham today and asked a local for good place for a coffee. He said try Westgate Bakery (artisan style) facing onto the square there.
Bar thinking next time I would ask for an extra shot (or half a one ?) in my small or regular Americano it all was is very, very nice I reckon.
Lovely smart and hospitable ambience and helpful staff being a team caring set up.
Quality food if maybe a bit pricey to halt more regular visits for some of us.**, very good/ nice .
Good wifi signal for customers , I found where I sat downstairs . Though not password protected. Use VPN.
Coffee yet to be convinced matches up with full flavoursome coffees which others do around the country, and in Italy's best etc , but see how it goes.
Many thanks and great to find today on a visit .

This is the second visit to WG bakery and our initial purchase around a month ago, of almond croissants to take away were superb.
I popped in this morning and got two more but sadly very disappointed. When we sat down to enjoy them at home, it was completely different. The filling was not moist and the pastry slightly burnt giving the croissant a very dry burnt flavour. So disappointed as these are expensive and definitely was worth it first time around.

With most food stores, they treat the youth like peasants. You either buy something from there or you get out. This however is not the case for Westgate bakery. In only 2 total trips, they gave me over £10 worth of food for FREE just out of the kindness of their hearts. The only thing better than amazing food is amazing food, service and atmosphere combined.

Stopped briefly for coffee and pastries with a friend. Both very good.
We sat downstairs and I really liked the cellar vibe. I imagine it's cosy in winter and cool on very hot days.
Toilets very clean.
Service was excellent.
Prices seemed about right for what we had.
There's a small menu of brunches/lunches.
If I were in the area again I'd definitely revisit, it's always nice to support an independent place.
Vegetarian options: There are a few savoury options in addition to the pastries.
Wheelchair accessibility: The entry is accessible and you could sit upstairs. However toilets are downstairs (I didn't see an accessible loo on the ground floor).

Excellent coffee, served outside on a sunny day.
