Went to Swayfield for a cousin's funeral and couldn't have been more welcomed by H, his wife and girls. The food was delicious, the accommodation spotless and, despite the reason for my visit, haven't enjoyed a visit so much for years! Thank you H and family ?

Location is a difficult one. Situated in a nice quiet village. It depends what you want from your stay. If you want peace and rest on a journey it?s ideal. If you wanted lots of activity - maybe not. Very attractive pub. Good food. Lovely rooms.

Nice little pub, very oldie worldie! Has new owners who are nice and friendly. Not loads of choice for ale drinkers but the beer they had was good and kept well. Worth popping in.

What a fantastic place to go! We visited on our booze cruise yesterday and what a great place! New owners are amazing! Good incredible and nothing too much trouble. This is exactly how a pub should be run. The right attitude goes a long way! We will definitely be back very soon? ?

Visited for cycle weekend at Rutland Water with some friends. A fantastic pub with good food, real ales by Grainstore and comfortable accommodation. Excellent hospitality as well!

Visited the Royal Oak last night to meet up with a friend, I'd not been in there for years and felt comfortable being there. The pub is well supported by locals, new owner H has only been there for a few weeks and has settled well into village life he was welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely evening, the food prepared by H was great.

New owners and clearly making a good impression, arrived at 17:30 and already quite a few people in. Good range of draft ales, the Grainstore Osprey and 10/50 in good fettle and draft Madri most acceptable. Only in for a drink but already a few fingers in, fish and chips very popular and take away orders as well. Young team on the bar extremely pleasant and competent?.will definitely be back again??

Really lovely place to stay - excellent value for money, and the staff were very welcoming. Lovely and clean and the breakfast basket was an added very welcome surprise.
