Restaurant - great attentive staff and decor.Poor food - and to make it worse very poor management.Chips (skin on chunky chips that were dark brown were awful and asked for replacement - they just said that?s how it comes and we can?t serve you fries instead (which looked nice) because that only comes with kids menu.Whoever owns this place really needs to consider replacing the manager - she doesn?t know how to deal with complaints at all.Should have refused to pay for the fish and chips. Awful - rest of food was ok.

Been there a couple of times now and everyone there seems happy and friendly esp Sarah and Leah in the bistro, which is pleasantly nice for a meal and a drink,Coming soon is butchers along with an established garden nursery

A few okay shops and an expensive cafe, food was nice but over priced. Low review given for parking fine - assuming there is something you have to enter your details in but it isn't well advertised. Make sure you fight the fine, they will back down

I haven?t been to the Engine Yard for a while after most businesses ?left? and the food went downhill. But gave it another visit today after hearing it was now with a new management company to bring it up to a decent standard. Oh dear. If I could award no stars for service I would. There were no staff serving downstairs on entering and we waited. We saw a waiter who was busy rushing around and asked if we could seat ourselves upstairs as the ground floor area was quite full. He said we could. There was a business meeting in session at a central table. The two ladies were talking loudly about marketing for the fuel tank which seemed odd in the middle of their restaurant instead of an office or discreet corner. One of the ladies asked us if we?d just wandered up there by ourselves? It wasn?t a very friendly welcome as she turned out to be our waitress. The menus were a bit hit & miss. I had a clip board with 3 breakfast menus which finished serving 90 minutes previously Only one of our party had the correct 3 different menus. Nothing looked very inspiring but in fairness at that point we decided not to order and leave. So can?t comment on the food even though as we rose to leave there was a huge pile of dog vomit behind us on the floorboards, we felt as if we?d definitely made the right decision.Beautiful surroundings cannot compensate for good customer service and its certainly lacking here.

The food was excellent, I tried the fish and chips and the vegetarian breakfast. Rose wine, yum yum, coffee very good. It was ALL AMAZING! The lovely vibes of the place, the countryside, but what was most wonderful, was after coming up from London and attending the Noisily festival, I needed a place to work from online, and the Engine Yard Cafe - their staff, were the kindest, most beautiful people I had ever met. They were always asking how I was, if everything was ok. They made sure I had quiet time when I needed to be online where I had to give a challenging work class for 3 hours, they allowed me to use their bar downstairs. I mean, I couldn't fault the place or the people, top notch! Was my peaceful sanctuary and good food place when getting away from the craziness of the Noisily Festival! Even though that was great too! Hope to come back to the Engine Yard and stay there too, as there are lovely glamping tents and rooms!!!!! TOTALLY 100% recommended!!!!!

Stopped here a week ago (mid May) on a long bike ride for lunch. Very pleasantly surprised- the wood fired pizzas were excellent. And there was plenty of choice for other refreshments. I'll definitely be back. We timed our visit perfectly.... soon after we placed our order a long queue formed. For dog owners there is a great selection of doggy treats.

We really enjoy visiting the Engine Yard on a sunny Sunday....lovely setting and nice little shops, although less of them than there used to be it seems. There is a really old tractor sat in the grounds here that hasnt moved in years & years, yet its only slightly slower than the service at the cafe and there lies the problem......we ordered 4 drinks and paid, 25 minutes later we enquired about 3 of them and was told the wifi doesnt always transmit the order properly, but 1 had got through ok as had the not insignificant payment......then another 15 minutes further before the other 3 materialised. Little by way of apology. There are plenty of staff, not serving though as we watched 4 of them carrying bottled drinks from the outside drinks store to the inside fridge just 2 bottles each at a time.....the service aspect needs some proper management & supervision here, if it did it would thrive for sure with all the positives it has going for it !

Avoid! Shop owners have been forced out by Belvoir Estate's greed and complete lack of business acumen. Visit Sedgebrook Village instead, and don't get mugged off by visiting this place.

Avoid this place at all costs. Nowhere is open any more due to the Dutchess driving small shops out and literally stealing their business. Please visit Sedgebrook village and support the merchants that have been forced out.

It was our first visit here with our dog. I was a little apprehensive after reading most recent reviews, however we were pleasantly surprised. We parked in the short stay where you get 4hrs free, we walked the gardens then popped round for lunch. We had a yummy lunch at the cafe, and dog friendly inside which wasn't obvious but a bonus! Service was good, my only point of improvement would be that we had one of our plates cleared whilst the other was still eating and the toilet could have been cleaner, not that it was dirty at all though. Some shops were closed, including one sadly which had been evicted. All of the shops that were open were beautiful and the shop keepers were friendly and chatty. I didn't buy anything sadly but there were lots of things of interest. We spent almost all of the 4 hours at the gardens and Engine Yard which included me taking my time taking photos in the gardens.I have nothing to compare it to in the past but if you're travelling to the area definitely do not omit it based on the reviews!

I took my daughter to the Engine Yard for lunch today. Every time I go I tell my children that we?ll never go again. I remember why I keep saying that. They made us wait to be seated which gives you the impression that you?re going to have ?proper? table service. The food was very average if that and I had to ask for salt and pepper, basic condiments that should be on the table or offered when the food is delivered. After eating we waited for the waitress or anyone really to come and see if we wanted anything else but nothing for about 20 minutes until my daughter went to the counter and ordered more drinks. They weren?t busy and there was plenty of staff about. Our expectations weren?t too high and they didn?t disappoint, service was low and the bill was high. I must remember not to go again, again ?

Catching out regulars, fantastically shocking business senseUse the ?under 1hr free parking? often while spending money at the Engine Yard. I went last weekend and then get a £60.00 fine through the post for parking there for just 30 minutes while buying food at the Engine YardTheir rules have changed and they have not even changed the sign posts indicating this, deliberately making the signs A4 sized with a paragraph of terms and conditions like anyones going to read that, unbelievable

New- 4hrs free parking!! Please support the great businesses here- we had a lovely day out- food at the fuel tank- and bought a few nice presents too ( feel sorry for locals businesses if parking issues are putting people off visiting)
