Absolute shambles with their credit card.Me and the wife were put onto without our knowaledge or consent onto a "beta" test of the new EU banking regulations that state that any purchase over £30 may be challenged by their computer.Oh boy after being on this for two years we can see why the EU has already kicked this into the long grass.ANY and I mean ANY purchase over £500 WILL be declined, even though there is plenty of credit avaliable AND the card WILL be locked down until you phone them.Best bit they are only open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday even for their fraud department. This has now happened multiple times, twice in the last month and all we get off Nationwide that it's "Anti-fraud" measure even though it throws up a huge amount of false positives and their fraud team is closed for more hours than open.I'm off to New Zealand on holiday and was booking something special for the wife and had a company open early so I could pay and imagine the humiliation that yet again the card gets declined and then some snot at the credit card company tell you that everybody won't get back in until 8am and there is no manager or supervisor in the building.Of course that is a lie, if there is no duty manager or supervisor then that workplace is not insurered and that the company is breaking the law.Even worse last month the card didn't get unlcoked when I phoned to complain and the card was declined yet again for a small purchase only to find out that they hadn't done the job they should have done.Other card companies have 24 hour fraud departments and given the 24 hour nature of the internet and global travel a company the size of Nationwide needs to get into the 21st Century and get their act together.I have no idea how this is going to pan out when the full roll out of these regulations get done as cards are going to be locked left right and center.
