Nice welcoming experience... I love the location definitely 100% better in summer but still very nice . Services is almost flawless.
Noteworthy details: We did have just one room and it was great, we had their hall and that was so nice .

We went here for Sunday lunch on Remembrance Sunday. Got seated quickly. Orders were take quick. We all ordered Beef Sunday dinner. The beef was delicious but severe lack of veg on the plate. One carrot did not cut it. A spoon of red cabbage and normal cabbage. Overpriced really. Food was nice and puddings were good but again. Expensive. I could not get parked either but that was due to there grass overflow park being closed. My big dissapointment was the fact that they offered no discount or even a free drink for Armed Forces and Veterans. I came from Lincoln to visit. Dissapointed.

Dropped in late for a pint, enjoyed the cheese board, and a subsequent pint. All served by a very nice bar lady
Food and drinks: Outstanding! As they say in the US marines

Not impressed with our experience here. We used to travel to here as a halfway mark for ourselves and the family. However, despite booking long in advance for a quiet table, we were placed next to a total of 6 children, 2 of which constantly opened the door directly behind us and left it open, as well as hitting glasses with spoons intermittently to make it as loud as physically possible.
When we asked to move to a more quiet table, the lady had a friendly scowl on her face, and informed us ?this is a family pub?.
Funnily enough, I couldn?t agree more with her, prior occasions this pub felt like a nice cosy getaway, with warm welcoming environment, nowadays, it resembles more of a ?have a drink at the bar and let the kids run amuck?.
All we are missing now is a ballpit and they?ll have that ?family friendly? vibe down to a tee.
Noteworthy details: If you like having children screaming in the restaurant area, this is the restaurant for you.

We made a special request, way in advance, for a quieter spot in the restaurant. Manager arranged for us to be sat next to 2 families with 4 children respectively. Being dissatisfied with the poor service - the managers?s response was ?it is a family pub you know?.
Would not recommend this place, especially for the price you?d pay for the food. We ended up going to Gap inn instead.
Noteworthy details: Lots of kids, constantly making noise, wouldn?t recommend for adults looking for quiet occasion

We had a family lunch here. Good food, good value. Lovely venue inside and out. Courteous service from the staff. Highly recommended.

What a shame, this place used to be so good and now I feel so disappointed with the standard of the dishes. Bland and uninspiring. So sad when we were all so excited to come back after 6 months

We've visited The Chequers many times for a meal. It has never disappointed us.
Delicious freshly cooked meals all with excellent service.
I thoroughly recommend this beautiful country pub for lunch or dinner.

A family reunion, 8 in the party, + 1 dog. A very welcoming pub near Grantham. Recommended by one of the party. We were seated at a large table in the main bar area, and there were other small rooms for dining.
A good choice of meals on the menu, but no snacks/sandwiches. A good selection of gluten-free meals. All within a range of prices. The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was very good, as was the food. We had a selection of meals, and all were enjoyed.
There was ample parking and access for wheelchairs to our dining area. I'm not sure about the other areas. As stated, a dog friendly pub.

Good country pub with excellent menu including many genuinely gluten free options. Very pleased and surprised to have found such an excellent pub.

Lovely lunch

Had lunch here about six weeks ago on a lovely summers day, we sat outside at the front of the pub and ordered steak pie, green beans and mash also double cheese burger with hand cooked chips. The food came in reasonable time, my partner said the pie was very nice filled with tender beef and nice pastry, he was not very keen on the mashed potatoes though he said it reminded him of that Smash packet stuff. My double cheese burger was nice but i did receive fries not the hand cooked chips i ordered which was a bit disappointing. We decided to order a dessert each i had sticky toffee pudding which was lovely and my partner had ice cream, the ice cream scoops were small fit for a child really and at £2 a scoop rather overpriced. My partner said he would have liked to see a better choice of ales on the pump, there was only Timothy Taylor landlord and some Norfolk ale, he said it would have been nice to see Pedigree or London pride but that's just his personal taste. The service was very good and this is a nice pub but don't expect large portions, do expect above average prices, be careful not to drive past this pub as it is well hidden up a little side road, look out for the signs.
