A hidden gem in Bourne?s crown. I used to be a regular, sadly not had the opportunity to visit for last few years. I went last night with my wife and her friends/colleagues for her works Christmas meal. Pleased to see that it has not lost its charm and retained its quality of service and food. We were welcomed and seated quickly, offered to take our coats and given time to settle and view the menu. We were allowed to bring our own alcohol as they are a dry bar, reasonable corkage fee, they supplied us with wine glasses. If you are looking for an intimate, well presented restaurant with great customer service and quality food I highly recommend Shalimar. Definitely will make an effort to return sooner next time.

I rang to complain the next day and was refused a partial refund, only offered a discount if I ordered again. I would not risk it as most of this meal went in the bin. So disappointing when spending hard earned money?

Had a delivery. The worst Lamb biriyani I have ever had. Meat was tough and dry. The vegetable curry that comes with a biriyani, well I could have put some frozen mixed veg in a jar of curry sauce. Two bits of potato, was obviously not fresh made. It?s been years since I went to the Shalimar, it will be a lot more years, if I ever do , go back.

Now it's more like takeaway than a proper restaurant... Spicy is not really spicy for my taste, and knowing that food hygiene has only level 2 I'm not gonna order any more...

Ordering over the phone is not always as cheap as ordering online direct or through food hub! Chicken tikka is just rough tough chicken probably frozen,not nice

this was the second time i have visited this restaurant first time was about 12 years ago and we ate in and the food was fine this time we used it for takeout on 13th may i noticed on the website that they now do all sorts of takeout pizza burgers kebabs which i found a bit odd but still if it?s a way to make more money then that?s great for them so i ordered chicken tikka masala & chicken bhuna & rogan josh 2 x rice 2 x naans i noticed that collection time was 15 minutes from paying online which i thought was quick so i collected and noticed when we took the kids if the bhuna and rogan josh how much oil was in the curry and i got to say they was both bland and oily and the chicken was so dry the masala apparently was ok we did get large portions of rice and the naans was ok but i my opinion i wouldn?t use them again we always use gurka 91 and thought we have a change we will try the new one and montaz .

We have been ordering deliveries through Just Ear since lockdown. We only order the curries but the quality of these is still good despite their recent diversification into other cuisines.

I ordered over phone which was fine but when I went to collect my food the owner's attitude completely changed as soon as he saw me. He was rude and racist, can't belive we still have people like him. I'm disgusted and appalled by his cavalier attitude.

Had a takeaway from her a while back and it was delicious ordered again tonight and it was the most tastless meal I have had. Prawn rogan josh had too much heat and no flavour swimming in oil. Very disappointed. My fiancee had lamb byriani which she asked for mild. The veg curry was mild but also flavourless. The meat and rice part was nice though. The garlic rice had loads of garlic in it but didn't seem cooked and again tasteless. Overall we are very disappointed.
