The location is absolutely charming, especially on a Sunday late afternoon, offering a lovely atmosphere. We opted for the carvery, which was decent overall. However, the meats were slightly dry and not as tender as expected. While the quality could be improved, it wasn't a dealbreaker. The service was initially attentive but slowed down toward the end, as we had to wait about 20 minutes for dessert to arrive. Despite these issues, I would still recommend the place, as the setting and the initial service were pleasant, though there's certainly room for improvement in both food quality and service efficiency

Lovely location to go for a stroll.
But the prices of the food and drinks have let this down.
2 ice creams (not fancy) £6.80
4 soft drinks and 3 lunches (jacket potato, bacon sandwich and chicken with chips)
£47.00, the food was average.
Plus the parking £3.50 (which is expected)
But all in all a walk and a bite to eat cost us almost £60, it's just NOT necessary.

Booked a table for 3 on Mother's Day and we were welcomed in to a bustling dining area. The serving staff were friendly and we soon ordered our main courses. We had a bit of a wait, but that was understandable as the restaurant was busy. The main courses were generally good, in particular the chicken, but also the salmon en croute. The mushroom tagliatelle was very cheesy and lacked flavour. We ordered a couple of desserts, but they appeared to be mass produced. The cheesecake clearly had not seen any cream or cream cheese as it had a mousse-like texture.
In summary, it was a shame that the desserts were not better as this would have made the meal more memorable for Mother's Day.

Very slow service. The waiting staff ignored us completely and took multiple tables orders before ours even though they arrived after us.
The bar man was very grumpy and made it awkward when ordering a drink.
The carvery was very nice but the service let it down.

Sadly this was not a great stop for lunch. Sausage sandwich was cold, the onion soup was good but the decaf coffee was horrible, possibly one of the worst cups of coffee I've ever had.

The food was good but arrived a little on the cool side, not hot.

A nice restaurant with great views of the river. The food and service were both good and the atmosphere was pleasant.
They do allow dogs in the restaurant which I would prefer they didn't. This can be off-putting to some guests.

I've been been coming here for years. Unfortunately this was my last visit. Although it has a great location and lovely staff the menu is now very limited and the food is mediocre and poor. Ham and egg, steak pie, fish cakes, fish pie, lasagne have all left the menu. The burger was dry despite having one lettuce leaf. Bye bye Foxton inn

The sun shone and we sat by the canal. It was glorious. The home made pie was fabulous as was the fish and chips too. The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. Would recommend highly.
