Too pricey but essentials range good ,
example celery looks pricey compared to Aldi but I think you get a lot more in the pack and it seems better quality.although I couldn?t afford to shop for every thing there and some branded goods are more expensive

Yesterday was probably my worst experience at this supermarket in the eight years I?ve been a regular customer. From having to move several trolleys out of the way before I could get one with an unbroken holster for the Scanner (flagged up to customer services some time ago) to out of stock items and empty shelves. Several times now I?ve been awarded money saving vouchers for things which are known to be long term out of stock. Add to this the withdrawal of a complementary newspaper, and Waitrose?s appeal to me wears thinner with each passing week.

We called in here on the way home as there were some things I needed and we planned to have a drink and a bite to eat in the cafe. We went in to find the cafe had gone. Bit disappointed but never mind. My husband asked and we were told we could buy a token for a hot drink. We went through the self service till and bought the hot drink voucher. Got to the machine and there were no cups. If we had been told we had to bring our own cup we would never have bought the voucher. I'm a diabetic who is allergic to sweeteners and there were no soft drinks I could have had anyway. Not much choice there and staff were not very pleasant or happy. Not a good experience I'm afraid. Shame as I usually love a waitrose.

Done with waitrose after many years and a morrisons convert now. The inflated prices used to be because of the choice, the variety, the taste.. and only 10 or 20 per cent more and to me felt worth it. But other supermarkets have upped their game and the difference is minimal yet your prices have increased further to double the price on basics in some instances, it's truly eye watering at times. Today a large number of fresh items had no price displayed or had an out of stock back soon sticker yet stock available so no idea how much tomatoes or basic bits I wanted were, so left them as not walking round the shop scanning everything myself i may want, everything should be priced so i can make an informed choice. I went to the meat and fish counter at 8.35 and nothing.. bare. The sign says ready to serve you from 8a.m.. I asked a member of staff what was going on, to be told short staffed and late setting up. Looked like it would be well past 9 until open and ready to serve so again left it and had to go next door for my lamb and steaks as prefer fresh to over priced vacuum packed. The member of staff tried to make a joke saying you're a bit early today.. no you are late and have let me down, some of us have to get to work and I have the school run and shopping to do before starting. Got to the till with half the things I wanted and one member of staff, some old guy couldn't work out his points card and she was trying to help keeping everyone waiting whilst another member stood doing nothing on the self checkout area watching on, even though nobody was using the self checkout system, when she could have jumped on the till or helped the chap having trouble. Felt like walking out, I will not be back in a hurry, it's just not worth it if the produce and service once offered is no longer there.
