Teachers blame students that didn't do anything for things others do. Corporal punishment.

I notice a lot of whining parents have reviewed the school (some who can barely put a sentence together). Clearly, they have very low standards as they do not appreciate how the school is trying to instil discipline and rigour into the lives of these young people, something they probably lack at home.

A student currently in De Lisle, in summer time of 2023, when I return to school I will be a year 13 student for 2023-2024. Join De Lisle at year 10.My personal preferences. I wouldn't say this school is bad in my own standards, because I originate from Hong Kong. Yes this school is strict in the standards among the country or the state it belongs in, but the rules are actually not unreasonable to accept, to not let your child to bring their phones in school under year 12 might be harsh in this country's standard, but imagine the frustration the teachers might get during lesson on telling students off for using their phones. Freedom is restricted compared to other schools but ultimately, it's set to be for the child's development own good, e.g. self-discipline.On my experiences on how teachers treat students, some may be strict, some may treat the students more freely, as long as students don't mess around and be silly, there will be no issue. Most of the situation **I see** where students and teachers have arguments originates from the student, an incident happens, students stand their own view no matter the rules, teachers get involved because it's to the point that it's disturbing lessons, so they will have to follow the rules to decide whether punish the student or just simply giving them a warning, most of the times it will only be a warning but if students are causing problems multiple times, they will start punishing, like sending students to the room for other teachers to give them a review on the whole incident on why they are punished and how to improve on later incident (although I've never been in there once but I heard from other students the school does this).Teachers will answer your questions and sometimes even ask you to leave an email if needed further support. But during the holiday it might be hard for teachers to read a student's email but teachers that are from the higher up with more responsibility will mostly read them and reply to your email. Other teachers are individual dependent on the teacher, some reply late, some doesn't reply, some replies quick (on holidays). But in general on school working day they will reply, just sometimes might be slow.On regard of how the school principle Dr Pye is bringing the school down hill according to parents and students. Through my observation, he is a good principle in my eye, among the teachers he has a really good review due to him always helping them in tasks regardless of what the task is, in the corridor you sometimes might see him helping other teachers get on duty as well. His attitude remain polite and professional **all the time** regarding on talking to anyone in school, teachers, workers, students. Among the students his review is pretty bad due to how strict he is but in my standards, he's fine as either a principle or a teacher. In my opinion and what I see most of the time, how students might get unsatisfied on a teachers is based on the incident and how they are using double standards about their attitude while speaking, the student will most of the time not acknowledge their own attitude being rude to the teacher while the teacher cannot behave annoyed or speak in an attitude as if they are annoyed by the students, because if the teacher speaks in that attitude, the students will most likely label the teacher as a bad teacher and spread it around, based on what i observed so far this is what happens a lot of the times, but rarely happens on sixth form, still happens in year 11 though.Environment, not much to say, nothing special much, but an area dedicated for sixth formers to study in, multiple big fields, a swimming pool.Overall, I just want to give my honest review to this school solely based on my experience. If you are a parent and reached this far for what I have wrote, I think there are a lot of factors to think of whether the school is good, but mainly personal preference and if it suits how your child like to live.

When I started at De Lisle in 2016 the school was amazing but drastically changed for the worst when Dr Pye arrived. It?s sad to see how it has declined so rapidly.

I would put no stars but 1 star is the minimum so it will have to do. This school is an institution of immense distain and I greatly regret my application to this collage. Furthermore the teachers are often condescending and vile towards the pupils.

I had a terrible experience here. I started in year 7 and in year 8 I was put into isolation because one teacher accused me of doing something I didn?t. I wasn?t listened to and I was then just seen as something I wasn?t. Whilst there were a few nice teachers most weren?t nice to me and I had to leave De Lisle after year 9 to get a fresh start. My sister went here from year 7 to year 13 and had an equally bad experience as teachers didn?t listen to her or see when she was struggling with some pretty serious difficulties. Definitely do not recommend this school and I?ll never send my kids here when I have children in the future.

Three children currently at De Lisle. Two with SEND and one high flyer. The staff have supported us as a family throughout highs and lows. Always been there if we needed help or support and have backed our children all the way.I constantly recommend the school and its staff because they deserve it.
