I cannot believe how dirty this hospital is quite shocking!

If I could give this a negative I would. Absolutely abismal. Staff don't care, don't communicate, no urgency. It's just a tick-box excerise. And whoever thinks its ok to come in and talk about end of life without warning, communication and in front of the patient, needs sacking!!!
The place is falling apart, blocked toilets, rubbish everywhere. The radiator covers have been lying on the floor for three weeks!!
The system is broken and the staff should be calling for reform not payrises! It needs abolishing and atarting from scratch with people who care.

Worst hospital ever !!!!!!!
NHS bravo ! Waiting time taking ages and not supportive at all !!!
They released my daughter with a broken arm and a week later they called to say another specialist saw the photo and it was broken!!!! Never again !!!!!

I had worst experience after pregnancy tell me I would be discharged for 48 hours and wanting to run more tests on baby when a doctor came to do it and they said it not required. I would not have a baby at the royale again as they stress you and make you feel like your not doing anything right.

Awful, came with my son with him stuck in his airways , right off the bat, looked like no one cared, the first nurse was just absolutely awful, asked 2 questions and and made a decision that he does not need to be seen and can go home as ?he wasn?t suffering or in pain or having difficulties talking, I was shocked and responded with, you want him to be suffering before he is seen, he has a foreign object in potentially his lungs and your worried about how fine he seems, as a nurse you should know that a foreign object that does not dissolve stuck in your wind pipe be it partial blocked or not can lead to further problems, even if his wasn?t fully blocked so he was talking and breathing but that still needs to be seen, gum does not disintegrate in your airways, it?s not going into his stomach to then come out in a couple of days , I?m appalled at the lack of concern. finally she agreed to have his observations and now I?m sat here waiting in the room where I have witnessed dozens of people come in after me and my son and have already been seen by the doctor, so I can only assume the know it all nurse has pushed him at the back of the list out of spite, when I?ve gone to ask the reception they?ve given me a very generic response priority, and what 10 other people have been prioritised and they seem to not be ?suffering? either. but here we are still waiting, I don?t understand what do these doctors and nurses think we come out to wait for hours on purpose because we like it or somthing, no one wants to come to A&E out of choice. honestly only here as we?re were asked to come here by 111

Went to A&E under the advice of a secondary party and then was later admitted to the gynecology unit for further investigation of ongoing conditions. It's always busy in the hospital especially on Friday evenings but the staff did what they could to get me pushed through the system. The gynae team were lovely when I was in severe pain and have given me further support if I need it. I can't remember all the nurses names unfortunately but I do recall Lucy and Rachel, thank you to them and all the other staff working the night 15th August and the morning after.

The care given to patients is, rightly so, adapted to them. However as is expected of any nurse or doctor, time is precious. Whilst I understand their time stretched beyond any sane amount, taking time to read a patients notes, further back than the here and now problem must be looked at. For example, knowing that the reason a patient is here is, complicated for want of a better word, means you take extra care in reading *all relevant notes*.
The food is ok, however a lack of choice and small portions, especially where pre and anti natal patients are concerned, is rather concerning..... breakfast there is a lot of choice, but its never varied again either. Its doing what they can with what seems to be very minimal effort to offer anything other than the same thing, day in day out. Maybe have a look at expanding the menu, and adding portion sizes, dietary requirements etc.... (diabetic/ceoliac options etc)
Shout out to Dr Sadiki, Charlotte and Sumeyyah, just a few of the most understanding people I've ever come across within the NHS. After my shit show of a situation, they deserve a medal.....

Excellent experience at LRI Eye Casualty today. Efficient progression through checks, documentation, photography, scanning and Consultant opinion. Staff were uniformly kind, professional and patient. Mr Islam went out of his way to get to the bottom of the problem and provide a clear explanation, plan of future care and reassurance. A couple of staff didn?t introduce themselves but otherwise 10/10.

Absolutely terrible place, the staff have no care for their patients my sister was not allowed to eat for 3 days whilst they kept telling her she was next in line for major surgery and then kept delaying it. The place is filthy the cleaning needs a total upheaval there is waste and poor smells everywhere

Such a filthy hospital! Can?t believe this is what I saw on Thursday and again this morning (Saturday). A glove that clearly a clinical member of staff has dropped, rubbish, dirt and even a cigarette end. It makes me wonder what the cleanliness is like in the rest of the hospital.

Taken my elderly father to ophthalmology appointments. Caring, efficient and compassionate staff at all levels. Treated my father respectfully and explained everything thoroughly with follow up telephone calls. Thank you.

Had the best experience at the Royal 29-30th /07/25 came in with sever abdominal pain, shivers, head ache, the works basically, was seen very fast by a lovely nurse who took my bp, ECG, my heart rate, pulse and recognised something was wrong, she was so welcoming and reassuring. Was sent back out to the waiting room ofcourse to wait to see another nurse which was again pretty quick for it being the emergency sit and wait she was amazing and patient with me being a nightmare patient (I can?t swallow tablets + hate needles and bloods being taken) but she was fab never made me feel like I was being hysterical and was really reassuring. She then allowed us to wait in her room and lie down as I was quite a lot of pain, already at this point had fluids + antibiotics prescribed by the doctor which was fab. Got moved into the major blue ward were everyone was so so lovely I believe it was Ken my HCA was the sweetest and really tried to make a scary situation better they were all fantastic though. Once bloods came back (within the hour!) I was sent for a ct a few hours later (only took this long as they were deciding weather it was appropriate for me to be exposed to the radiation at my age as I am a young adult) everyone in the ct room was lovely and reassuring as well. The results for that came back pretty quick as well where I had been given a diffinitive diagnosis of appendicitis and was told I would need an operation and therefore moved onto ward 16 which was just as fab as major. The lovely nurse that was there when I arrived was so comforting and understanding of my worry as I?d never had an operation and wasn?t going to be able to see my parents before hand as they had scheduled my surgery for the first thing in the morning (which looking back was amazing) the HCA I had was amazing as well talking to me about her sons surgerys and not to worry trying to distract me from worrying which was lovely. The Anesthesiologists and the surgeons of course came in to speak to me as well where I got upset as I was very very nervous and they were absolutely fantastic such lovely and talented people so so reassuring and understanding really listening to me and my concerns and were there for me and comforted me all through up until I was out asleep they honestly exceeded my already high expectations from the rest of the hospital as they were just brilliant. The recovery nurse I had as well was so so lovely as well reassuring me as I came round telling me my parents had arrived checking in on me very frequently and barley left my side unless to get medication. My recovery in ward 16 was amazing as well everyone in there is so sweet and helpful I?ve honestly never had such a clean, professional, caring, patient, understanding experience and team of staff and am so so happy with the care I have received at the Royal. I wish I knew all of their individual names so I could accurately give credit where it is due for these lovely people as they all deserve it!! ??
