I went to the Ashby de la Zouch branch and was served by an overweight blonde shop assistant with glasses. I ordered 2 sausage rolls, she placed them into 1 bag. I asked the member of staff for a paper bag for each sausage roll, as they were for takeaway and for two individuals. She then stood there sternly/angrily saying 'save the planet', insinuating we are destroying the planet. I said we would need a bag each, as we stated we did not want to burn our hands. The member of staff stated you will not burn your hands, with some thin tracing paper being sufficient.I did not pay and left the sausage rolls and walked out. Absolutely disgusting to treat a customer like that. Staff should keep their personal views to themselves. She ended up wasting the paper bags anyway, as they had to go in the bin, once we had left. A lost sale, who else is she doing this too?

My mum moved down south a couple of years ago to be nearer to us and she was reminiscing about Birds and how good their food was. Nothing we could find matched her memory of your sausage rolls. For Mothers Day I ordered her some, along with some other treats, via your online ordering. I know she misses Ashby a lot and the delivery bought a tear to her eye. She reports that the food is just as good as ever!Delivery arrived well packaged and prompt.Thanks so much!!!

Cafe not working. Told to sit and they'd bring coffee over. Had to go back to counter for sugar. Had to then ask for stirrer. Slapped on counter with irritation. Staff clearly don't think they should have to do cafe side of business.

Went in was queing out the door the woman had to ask me what i wanted multiple times and still forgot, got home to eat my bacon cob and they gave me a sausage cob. they didn?t offer me a receipt

Went in for lunch whilst the pork cob was great the staff were anything but! Got told off as I was being served already and then I ordered two cakes from another staff member & got told this was not how they worked and she could be serving the one lady behind me they all proceeded to stare at me and tut lol??! cakes half the price in Melbourne village

Would give 0 stars if i could. Went to Birds Bakery today in Ashby with my wife and child. The women was rude behind the counter, clearly missed the customer service training as she had a face like a slapped a**e and to top it off the food was burnt.

Lovely cakes large and fresh, nice staff but only 4 stars as the staff do not wear masks and we believe they should as they are serving food.

Birds bakeries absolutely disgrace. Demanding card payments only and refusing cash which is illegal!!! cash is legal tender everywhere. This morning I have watched them turn away 4 pensioners for only having cash . So now the elderly and the vulnerable are having to go without the essential because of this company . boycott it and make sure it goes bust

As a visitor to Ashby had read about Birds Bakery online and certainly didn't disappoint loved everything we bought staff were friendly we even bought some cakes to eat on the coach on are way home to Somerset but keeping them until we got home we will defiantly be paying them several vists when we return to Ashby next month a great friendly place Somerset could learn from you well done Ashby Great Town, Great People Maggie Chris in Somerset

This branch of Birds is situated on the main street running through Ashby. Birds are purveyors of the finest fresh bread and rolls, filled sandwiches and cream cakes in Ashby. Fantastic elephants feet, cheesecakes and meringues are always a treat, all wrapped up in cake box adorned with ribbon. Their sandwiches are stacked with filling and make a wholesome lunch too. However, Birds is a hugely popular place and you will often have to patiently wait in a queue for such quality food.

been in here this morning and bought some egg custards. was feeling peckish after going to the doctors this morning. just done a 14hr fast for some tests. sorry about the waffle. the custards was fantastic and there was loads of other cakes on display. there was a birthday cake in the shop window, also in the shop was bread rolls and sandwiches. their factory is based in derby near pride park. and around 2.30pm they start to reduce the price of their cakes so if u go at that time you can get a bargain. p.s. dont tell the lads or girls i work with i bought a load on monday as a treat at reduced price.
