I contacted this company to buy a property at Trencherfield Mill in Wigan as a professional investor, but the agent is one of the worst I've dealt with. The manager Julie Peel is one of the rudest and most unsavoury characters I've ever encountered in the business and the branch culture towards customer service is absolutely reprehensible. They have no interest in selling properties to professional investors, and become obstructive and abusive when you try to ask them questions before booking a viewing. I'm now in the process of contacting the seller directly, but a company like this is with its current management is an embarrassment and detriment to the Your Move brand. To add some context, I contacted them to discuss putting in an offer on the property. I spoke with Daniel whose sense of logic was at levels of incompetence I've never encountered by an estate agent. I understand that they cannot share details about other offers on the table, but he had no interest in saving time by telling me if an offer I would make would be less than a previously rejected offer. In other words, he would gladly take an offer from me to pass to the seller that he knew would be rejected. I've never worked with an agent that conducts their business in such a pointless time-wasting inefficient manner. In an effort to try and work with him, I presented a hypothetical situation to illustrate the point. I asked that if he had a property where someone made an offer that he rejected, then another person offered a lower amount, would he reject that, also. He simply could have said yes or no, but instead he refused to answer the question, and asked what my point was. I explained that the point would be made upon him answering the question. The discussion descended into a protracted argument with him refusing to answer any question I asked about making an offer without wasting my time, the agent's time, or the seller's time. I then spoke to the Julie the branch manager, and it quickly became clear why there is such an obstructive culture where there is a serious lack of sales training and a culture of entitlement where the customer is a second class citizen. Almost immediately, Julie adopted a defensive approach where she kept repeating a question to which I kept supplying the same answer because she wasn't happy with the answer. After four rounds, she accused me of being repetitive. I had to explain that this was because she asked the same question four times, and that the answer had not changed in between each ask. After the conversation descended into another argument, I told her that I will make a formal complaint to which she replied, "That's great!" Of course, there was nothing "great" about this which I told her. Her defensiveness then went to the next level - she told me she feels "scared" and that I'm "abusive". I immediately knew the kind of person I was dealing with - someone who plays the victim when things don't go their way. I asked her to clarify exactly what she's "scared" of. As I expected, she could not provide a clear answer, so she came up with that she's scared that I don't want her to help me. I told her that this makes no sense not least because that's the exact opposite of what I want. She eventually put me back through to Daniel who continued to refuse to provide me with any information, and only wanted to set up a viewing. It's like this agent is nothing other than a viewing factory, and have absolutely no interest in fielding questions that customers may have ahead of a viewing. It's the exact antithesis of running a sales business! I don't know whether the staff at this branch are obtuse, obstinate, stubborn, disingenuous, or deliberately difficult, but the entire experience was horrendous, and a huge waste of my time.
