A civilised shopping experience. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good card- holder benefits. I enjoy browsing their free weekly newspaper and monthly magazine. Plenty of parking. A plus for me us the John Lewis collection point. On principle, I'll buy from from John Lewis rather than Amazon when possible. It suits me not to add to the coffers of an over privileged American tycoon who has little if any respect for others, particularly his own workers and their rights.

Friendly staff, good products on offer, could do with self service machines that use cash, only credit cards for now

First visit to a Waitrose store and I was so impressed. I went to buy a bottle of sake which I couldn?t find any where else and of course Waitrose sold it. I was on a hurry but I was so impressed with the store that I?ll be going again when I have more time to take in all the lovely produce they sell. On top of that I spoke to a member of staff who was very helpful. I did comment on what a super store it was and the just smiled and looked at me as if to say? well it is Waitrose?.

Edit** cleaned their act up, stock often low with the dutchy organic produce, and tills often not manned sufficiently enough, but the staff are friendly and they have some amazing, high quality things, they are also supermarket leaders in animal welfare, which is why we shop here.
Not a bad store, they had the old rainbow banners up, not for the NHS (nothing for them) but for gay pride day. As I'm sure, 90% of people here agree - highly inappropriate. Not only this but months later they haven't been bothered to remove the tacky rainbow card from the dividers. Sent customer service a quick friendly email weeks ago and no reply, so very poor customer service too.
A note to Waitrose: WE DONT WANT TO CELEBRATE GAY PRIDE. >7% of the nation might but the vast majority of us arnt interested. Thanks.

I was very disappointed in my visit to Waitrose today. My mum and I came to do some shopping on the 24/07/25, and all was perfectly fine until it was time to check out using the self check out. My mum had tried to purchase 1 bottle of Crabbies beer, but I was the one scanning because I can work the tills quicker than her. Being 20 years old, scanning one bottle of beer for my mum at a self checkout did not seem an issue, until an associate Robert came up to us and denied us the bottle. He asked me for my ID, so i explained I was 20 years old, the singular bottle of beer was for my mum (who was stood behind me) and I just happened to have forgotten my ID this day. My mum also explained to him it was for her. I then explained to him that my mum was the one paying, the bottle was for my mum, I was simply trying to help her out, but he was quite rudely adamant on not letting us purchase the bottle, despite me being 2 years over the legal age. Once accepting we could not purchase the beer, (while both being of legal age) Robert then came up to us again as we were purchasing some matches. The matches however proved not to be an issue for Robert, and he approved these on the till for us. When asking what the difference was with the beer, he had no answer. I am so disappointed with the service today, as I had come to help my mum do her shopping, even having driven her (since I am 20 years old) and this has quite frankly ruined my experience. We checked out at around 12pm today, happy to attach my driving license as proof of my age. Where do you draw the line? If I was a child helping my mum pack some shopping would you have denied them the purchase? I think not. Quite frankly a joke.
