It is a lovely semi-rural countryside pub that is community owned. There are various nights planned and, during certain months, dog shows and children's fun days. There is a lovely restaurant inside, with fantastic facilities. What sets this pub aside from others is the outstanding views of the northwest, reaching as far as Blackpool Tower on the horizon. The staff are lovely and it is very well run.

Lovely warm welcome from staff. The Food was cooked perfectly. Couldn?t have asked for a better service & shout out to guy in the restaurant who went above & beyond to keep our wee 10yr happy ? We would certainly recommend if in the area ?

A return visit about a year after our first time.
A lovely place to sit out on the balcony with a nice drink on a summer's evening and admire the views.
Not quite as busy as our first visit which was on the night of Scotland playing Germany in the Euro's when they had a marquee at the front of the pub.
This time more of a gentle Friday night social occasion.
Good food, good beer, good service what more do you need?

Very nice community owned country pub. Traditional style inside, good beer, very friendly welcome. Dogs catered for incl biscuits and water. We didn?t eat this time. Amazing view to Darwen Tower and parking at the back.

Hidden Gem in the Hills ? The Dog Inn at Belthorn
Myself and our team had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Dog Inn at Belthorn today, and I can honestly say it was one of the best pub dining experiences we?ve had in a long time.
From the moment we walked in, we were met with a warm welcome and an atmosphere that felt both homely and vibrant. The setting is breathtaking ? perched high up with sweeping views of the Lancashire countryside. On a clear day, you can spot landmarks like Blackpool Tower and Jubilee Tower ? a real treat while enjoying your meal.
The food was nothing short of excellent. A great selection on the menu, catering to all tastes ? and the vegan options were genuinely impressive. Fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. Everyone at the table left full and happy, which says a lot when you?re feeding a group with different preferences!
The staff were absolutely brilliant ? warm, professional, and incredibly welcoming. You could really feel the pride they take in the place and the genuine care for their guests. It made the whole experience even more special.
This isn?t just a pub ? it?s a proper community hub. We even had a look around their community garden and shop, which was a lovely touch.
Whether you?re local or just passing through, I can?t recommend The Dog Inn enough. We?ll definitely be back ? not just for the food, but for the full experience.
5 stars from us ? thank you to everyone at The Dog Inn for a wonderful afternoon!

Came for late lunch yesterday. I had the fish and chips - delicious. My friend had piri piri chicken and then chocolate brownie (2 courses for £17.95), said both were delicious

Absolutely love the Dog Inn. Delicious food at very reasonable prices. Freshly prepared, all hand made and locally sourced. Very attentive staff in the bar, restaurant and coffee shop, which is also really well stocked with a large range of items. Great welcoming atmosphere with a real fire. Even though it was really busy tonight, no waits for drinks and we got a table by the fire, shame we couldn't stay longer as the entertainment tonight looked really good too.
Oh and don't forget about the views! Especially if you are a lady and visit the facilities, WOW!
We didn't eat from the restaurant tonight as we were booking for Sunday but did have a slice of delicious chocolate cake from the coffee shop
Parking: They also have electric vehicle charging points
Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly with toys and games available and special offers of £5.00 for children's meals
Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp and assistance available. Disabled parking, stairlift to toilet (up a short flight of stairs)
