**Click & collect Service at Lancaster**We ordered online for click & collect, when we collected we were served by a very impolite staff memberAfter giving our click & collect details the staff member went to retrieve our online order. And whilst they did that we gandered at the newspapers by the till.We were rudely interrupted by the staff member who unpleasantly shouted across to us"Do you want your books?".The books did not come parceled up and when asked we were told it would cost money for that. The weather was damp and drizzley so we had no choice to pay, but surely an item bought online should be parceled ready to go?Whilst we quickly tried to find 20p she huffed making us very uncomfortable.

Whether it is the post office or the shop - the staff are the most unhelpful people I have EVER encountered in one shop. Customer service training would be of huge benefit at this location. I can see from other reviews that I am not the only person to notice this. The shop merchandising is also unclear and items - whether stationery or magazines are ludicrously difficult to find and are why I always have to interact with staff when visiting. You can rarely find what you are after on your own. I do not add negative reviews lightly - but this shop is a place I tend to avoid if possible, because every time I visit, I leave wishing I'd never entered.

Is it normal practice to get "Irish Racing Post Annual" for £12.99 which you never wanted with your purchase? Has it happen to anyone? We found out only at home that they charged us £24.55 insead of £11.55. Be super cautious there!

WH Smiths in Lancaster has transformed in the last 8 months to be a more community resource as it has a post office counter on the upper floor. Still one of the best locations to go for the latest magazines and quality stationery it is always worthwhile checking out the offers they have on books. If you are looking for mid-quality pens and an extended range from Parker into Lamy and Cross then there is still a specialised counter and sale of theseIf I had any gripe it would be the sale of sweets and confectionary as I always feel this distracts from their core purpose.

Shelves not very well stocked. Shop overly priced but WH Smiths always is. Lack of staff on shop floor to assist.

Typical Smiths shop, nothing special. Most things overpriced in my opinion. Post Office upstairs, always a long line waiting, they need a special place for people dropping off internet purchases otherwise you have to wait for the people buying stamps etc
