I recently went to The Borough for dinner prior to a show. I used to love going to The Borough, the food was always really good.
We arrived before 6pm, so we were offered the school dinner menu, essentially all mains were £10. I was so surprised to see they were now charging £1 extra for peas and £1 extra for gravy! Whilst I wouldn't mind paying £12 for my meal, these chargeable extras seemed unnecessary.
I then ordered 1 scoop of the chocolate ice cream, which was £3 from the main menu. I was absolutely disgusted with what they sent out. The serving was less than one flat tablespoon worth of ice cream - an ice cream scoop certainly wasn't used, probably a tea spoon. they also served it in a hot dish, which meant I was left with a warm milkshake by the time it got to the table. The waiter seemed surprised at my complaint and just blamed the kitchen for the portion size. I absolutely understand that costs to run a restaurant have significantly increased, but to serve a teaspoon of ice cream for £3 (when you can buy 1ltr for £5.50 from the supermarket) seems ridiculous.
Things seem to have really changed food wise at the Borough, I really wouldn't recommend it.

Rooms: We were booked into a twin room the room wasn?t ready so they put our bags in room then they rang us to say the party in the function room would be noisy so could we move rooms. As we were out they offered to move our belongings so in return to the pub we were shown into the absolutely fabulous accessibility room straight off the road it was magnificent. The service received from the manageress on duty was just above and beyond to too that it was a great breakfast I only had poached eggs !

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city. Easy access to parking. Room was great, Mattress needed to be replaced, very hard but the room was well furnished and cute. Town is very walkable with lots to see and close to shopping.

The bed was old and worn. When you rolled over the bed made much noise. As a result I did not get good sleep nor any rest. Please retire the bed in #6.
Walkability: Many pubs nearby as well as coffee shops.
