I had the misfortune of having a bank account with the Lancaster branch of Barclays.When my Cheque book got towards the end I used to get a replacement in the post then, for some unknown reason, I had to go ?cap in hand? to the branch on a Saturday morning to get a measly ?emergency? chequebook. This continued unabated for months, in spite of my many regular complaints.When I reached the end of my tether I decided to transfer my banking to First Direct, the manager at Lancaster Barclays told me I couldn?t do it unless I transferred my Barclays loan to First Direct as well ( to ?take my loan with me).When I told First Direct about what the Barclays manager had said, First Direct were shocked and said it was probably illegal,Subsequently the Barclays manager quickly backed down.I?ll never bank with Barclays again!

There's a reason why this place has terrible reviews!!I switched to Barclays less than 3 weeks ago. On Monday, they suspended my account for no reason. Yesterday, I had to call up to find out they have permanently closed my account for "breach of terms and conditions" but everyone I spoke to was unable to tell me which "term" or "condition" this was.I went into the Lancaster branch today and asked to speak to someone to make sense of it all and I found myself speaking with the branch manager. After explaining my situation, he smugly smiled at me whilst saying "nothing we can do, bud". I asked him if I could raise a complaint, which he replied "do it online".Avoid at all costs.

The team have always been really helpful, sometimes doesnt seem ti help with requests as much but safe and secure is at it's finest ?

This used to be a good bank with great customer service. However, now it is an absolute shambles. I am seriously considering changing banks, which is sad as I have been a customer for over 10 years!

This branch used to be very good in helping customers, but not anymore.The Barclays apk which recently upgraded does not has this " I am new to Barclays", only has the funtion to register if one has received the ATM card and activation pin. Thus it is not possible to open bank account either by the app or by walk in to the branch.

Staff have no clue what they are talking. Resolution provided to open a bank account was useless as the app was asking me to visit the branch and the lady at the bank asked me to do it online only. Such disconnect from their services itself is appalling.

Been there four times plus one extra online confirmation - and not able to get an account open. And easily sorted out by its neighbour.Some of the staff were friendly, but some were - well, at least not qualified for a service industry.

I cannot comment on the staff or transactions here as I can't get to the bank but doesn't Barclays Bank invest in fossil fuels extraction, fuelling the climate crisis? I care too much about my grandchildren's future to pay any money into Barclays Banks or use Barclays ATMs

Terrible phone and on-line service. People at the bank are nice and friendly but now with covid-19 is very difficult to have face to face chat.
