Went for lunch a few Saturday's ago. Sat outside in the lovely outdoor area. Food and service were OUTSTANDING!!! We had the sharing platter, salt and pepper chips and onion rings. Just perfect. Definitely a place to take visiting friends and family to show off what Heysham has to offer.

Really enjoyed our lunch in the garden today, shared a selection of small plates all very tasty and beautifully presented. All the staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Thanks for a great visit!

I read the reviews and felt like I'd come across a different place. Terrible service, and my vegetarian Sunday roast with beef gravy... And we weren't the only ones; everyone in the waiting room was upset about the delay.

What a lovely pub and dog friendly too however the dogs didn?t join us tonight for a family meal and wow everyone enjoyed their dish.
Lovely friendly staff that have the timing for clearing tables just right (I like my plate gone when I?ve finished eating) and nothing is too much trouble.
The beer garden is huge, decorated lovely and heated so what?s not to love
Highly recommended.

Wonderful place to stay while traveling to the Isle of Man. Will the GM is professional and friendly. Our room was spacious well appointed. The bed was comfy. Problem with the door lock., but not worrisome just old . We think there is a ghost.?

We stopped in for a drink and lunch. We have a dog and where told unable to use the dinning room (which we knew from previous), other area was full and outside space was being hosed down and everything went. We ordered a drink and managed to find some dry seating. Bar staff unfriendly and dismissive. Put us off ordering food. Shame as this normally one of our favourite places to call in for a meal.

Big old pub in a lovely old Lancashire village. A handful of decent cask ales, mostly from Thwaites. Lots of interesting old photos and features.

Lovely old pub with excellent food. Loses a star though due to the service which ranged from super attentive to utterly snail paced over the whole meal. It's not great when you have to chase a drinks order or ask for menu so we can chose dessert - after having waited nearly 30mins for someone to appear.
Food was excellent - highly recommend the shrimps and the beef and ale pie.

The room was nice and the price was okay, maybe a bit too expensive for one night, but okay.
The waiter at the bar on January 10, 2025, was just so unfriendly. We were staying there for ?130 and asked at 7:45 PM if we could get something to eat (for an additional ?55). We were told the kitchen was only open until 8:30 PM and to hurry up!
Other guests who arrived after us were served friendly, but we had to order our burgers at the counter.
Perhaps the hotel/restaurant should offer some training on friendliness and how to treat guests!
Luckily, we left after one night!

service was lovely when it happened, but we had to ask to be shown to our table, asked to give our order and drinks took 45 mins to come- arrived when we asked if they were coming after our food came out.
the food was ok- not sensational. husband had a burger, didnt appear to be home made, more formed off sight. frozen chips. at £18, really expected more. i had roast beef. the potatos and Yorkshire was great, the beef was nice, but not great. the beef was thiner than a slice kf Bacon, 3 small slices. again, for the price, really disappointing. we wont go again.

Probably the worst Sunday Roast I have had in my life, staff, scruffy and not interested, presentation of food, disgraceful, I could go on and on, but what's the point, suffice to say I did not leave a tip, I will definitely not go there again and I will tell all my friends not to bother. I know it's 5th January and their quiet time, even more reason for everything to be on point. Why did we pay Hospitality Staff 80% of their wages during COVID, only for them to come back and inflate prices and decrease Service and Quality.

Stayed here on the way up to Scotland from the West Midlands. Enjoyed the stay in a nice room with good food and a good selection of Thwaites ales. Lovely cosy dining room with a fire. Would stay again!
