Funny how my original review was advised as being vague despite having all the information? so when I update the review I get no response at all?? very poor and will not be returning, having been a regular here previously, I cannot believe how poor and downhill this place has gone. Arrived for a drink, waited to be served which is not a problem if it is busy but it wasn't. There was a man serving who was more happy to talk to the 2 men at the end of the bar than serve. The girl who served us, whilst we have no problem with tattoos to have a top on that was not cropped but had simply ridden up to show off the tattoo around her middle is less than professional. There was another copy in at the same having a drink who were in as much shock at the place as we were. The door was wide open so when the two men kept going for cigarettes then stench came into the pub, it was cold, dirty and very unwelcoming to say the least. It became clear that the owner was actually sat on a bar stool at the bar chatting to the 2 men and even bothered at the state of the place. One of her children actually came downstairs to ask if she was going upstairs so she said yes she was and left after few minutes. There was another couple in the pub who also said how shocked they were at the place. I won't elaborate on the 2 men who were stood at the bar who went to the toilet together. There was no live sport just football on from 42 years ago??? Absolutely shocking experience.

Reserved a table on Wednesday for today (Sunday). When we got there I was told by a young chap that he had tried to reserve a table but hadn't actually and to sit anywhere but there was nowhere. Anyway he did ask a bunch of customers who weren't dining if they could move for us.
We then ordered a Sunday roast off the menu we had been given to be told there is no Sunday roast and that they don't do them.
Breaded mushrooms and chicken strips both starters all overcooked unfortunately.
Mixed grill came rare to medium when asked for medium to well done.
Cheese burger had the teeniest bit of cheese on it I dont know how they can call it a cheese burger tbh.
We was going to order pudding but no1 was about to take our order for a good 20minutes so we decided to leave. Took ages to get attention to pay our bill. Understaffed and not very nice food.
It was recommended to us as a lovely place but we didn't see that tonight.
Whilst waiting to pay we could see into the kitchen and the young chap who saw us initially looked to be helping chef but also using his hands to put chips in the fryer rather than utensils. Not very good.

No issues with the service at all and the staff are lovely, however the food we ordered wasn't up to scratch. We ordered a hunters chicken which was just warm and the BBQ sauce was really dry- you couldn't really call it a sauce. We also ordered a chicken and mushroom pie which was basically a microwaved packaged pie (I could tell) due to uneven temperatures, it was lukewarm and had hard bits over the pastry. I thought this would be homemade and hand cooked chips but no it isn't which is really disappointing. The gravy was decent but yet again, nothing homemade. We thought we would give the Dog and Otter a try but unfortunately we will go back to our usual pub the Hyndburn Bridge which serve homemade, freshly cooked food for the same price.

Before booking a table enquire that the oven in the kitchen is working first.
Very dissapointing. Having listened to the family of 5 on the next table who had also ordered food. I began to wonder if we had made the right choice to book a table. Each family member had their food delivered 5 minutes apart and the chicken curry was described as the chicken swimming in water, alarm bells.
Our starters of breaded Mushrooms arrived and quicly returned to the kitchen for being almost frozen like in the middle.
The chef (fair play to him) came out and apologised, stating he was training a young apprentice and breaded mushrooms we're difficult to judge.
Benefit of the doubt was given and we waited for the second batch to come out that had been cooked through and hot.
On to the mains. My wife ordered the Lasagne that was lovely. But my choice of Steak Pie was a big mistake as it was also Stone cold...
The chef was fully apologetic and did give us a refund on our bill.
It's a shame and I do hope the new Lanlord/Landlady can get the kitchen sorted out and make a go of a difficult trade to be in.

What a wonderful experience. Start to finish. Attentive and friendly staff, with patience (we?ve got 4 kids). Couldn?t be happier to assist. Food was spot on, came quickly, no messing about. Just the way it should be. Give yourself a pat on the back team.

Do you know it restores your faith when you find somewhere we're nothing is too much trouble, the food is excellent and you are treated with the utmost respect. I had the rump steak cooked to perfection. I also had chocolate fudge cake and too accompany all that a rhubarb and ginger gin. Jen who is the full time manager along with her husband who is the chef and a good one at that.
The atmosphere was great, seating so comfortable, special offers and great company. Mean you can't go wrong. Thank you so much an excellent afternoon. You will need to book.

Popped in for a drink as we were passing by and ended up staying for some food. Staff and Service were exceptional, food was fresh and the choice was great. I went for the fish and chips and my partner had the surf and turf, both exceptional and reasonably priced! Saw a few burgers come out that looked amazing so will have to come back to try. Guinness was good too. Highly recommend.
Dietary restrictions: Staff all very clued up, doubled checked our requirements and the menu is very clearly marked.
Parking: Easy to park, loads of space.
Kid-friendliness: Plenty of families and a really good kids deal for £1!
