Enjoyed every minute of our stay from the moment we arrived met by two lovely members of staff, with a fun & bubbly welcome.The room was brilliant, clean & the large ensuite with bath / shower options & the bed was very comfortable.We had only planned for a short break to enjoy a few drinks at the bar & evening meal. The venue is lovely & relaxing with an outside seating area that mist be great in the summer.The food was amazing with a great selection & options for everyone with an amazing service from the staff, who where attentive to our needs all evening.The breakfast was fantastic & again a great selection for everyone with coffees included.Once again the staff where amazing, friendly & really make this place shine!We only wanted a night away for rest & to relax which we did leave in the morning feeling just that. Thanks for a great short stay & we can't wait to come ack for another visit soon.

We were directed here by the staff from The Fence Gate (where we were staying) because their kitchen had stopped serving for the afternoon.We were just after a snackette because we were booked in at The White Swan (excellent) for tea.When we arrived, around 3pm, there we a couple of tables occupied by older parties obviously enjoying their lives. Everyone looked happy which I always see as a good sign.The kitchen is fully visible (another good sign in my opinion) and the Maître D/Waiter/Barman welcomed us and gave us the option to choose our own table.We both ordered a pot of tea and for food, I hade the beef & marrow burger and my darlin? had the chicken burger.Now, I would not normally order a beef burger because I generally just don?t enjoy them and avoid chicken burgers because then tend to be overdone.We shared our burgers and suffice it to say, nothing was left on the plates.We heard the Maître D/Waiter/Barman dealing with some of the other patrons who were slightly older and he couldn?t have been more helpful.We interacted with some of the other staff and the were all lovely.As an interesting side, they distill their own gin!Well recommended.Food & drinks: Various options on the menu depending on the time of day.The bar looked well stocked and they have their own still for producing gin which you can buy by the bottle.Noteworthy details: I reckon it would be lovely in dry weather and the summer to sit outside at their well presented outside eating/sitting area. The huge parasol had halogen lamps for heat.

A lovely gem in a private setting. We discovered Forest about 8 mos ago since our arrival in the UK. We loved the upscale casual atmosphere, sometimes with DJ around holidays, fireplace and large windows out to the large pet/kid friendly patio/gardens. We feel the service has become more consistent and better timed over the months with servers checking in regularly, and food arriving at a good pace. We've always enjoyed our meals and have tried many different dishes--starters, pizza, burgers, salads, mains, desserts, beers on tap, and cocktails and really appreciate the seasonal offers which keep us coming back. This place is amazing. We had fish and chips and it was excellent. Our server was funny, quick, and smiling the whole time. We met Sean who distills their own house gin. Their Ribble was the best Gin I have ever had. It was not too juniper forward like many other gins, had a lovely blend of botanicals, and the finish was excellent! What made our experience unique was the staff and food. We had a bad experience in london and this was only our second pub. Their food was great, and Sean showed special interest in us, taught us about the distilling process since I enjoy learning about that, and even went above and beyond by offering me a few complimentary tastings after I expressed that I enjoyed the gin in the cocktails we ordered. We felt at home and really enjoyed our visit!

Met up with some friends that were staying there. It was a quiet Tuesday evening but had to wait ages for our food to arrive.Pleasant enough guy that was waiting on and he did apologise for the slow service.Hate to think how they would cope on a busy night. Sorry would nt rush back.

Unfortunately this evening both chefs had rung in sick. If we had been informed earlier we would have cancelled and gone somewhere else. When we arrived we should have been informed of the situation and if we wanted to stay we should have been told of how long we would have had to wait. This did not happen. We arrived on time at 19.30. We gave our order within 15 mins. 3 out of 5 starters arrived at 21.05, the other two arrived 10 /15 mins later. At 21.45 we canceled our order as no one could say when our main courses would be ready and said we were leaving. It was only then we were told why everything was delayed. By this time it was too late and we just wanted to go somewhere to get some food.It was so, so disappointing as we had had a lovely meal the week before. There is no way now could we recommend the Forest to any of our friends.

We went for Chrismas lunch. Starters were great but most of the mains were overdone. By the time my replacement meal came everyone had finished . Didn't feel like eating on my own. Management did give us free desserts which compensated some way but the whole experience was spoiled.
